Wrong Bridesmaid dress delivered

Hello All,

My bridesmaid ordered her After 6 dress from an online retailer. Her receipt has the correct color and size... the problem, they (retailer) sent/ordered the wrong color.  My wedding is in 29 days and a rush order is 4-6 weeks for the custom dress..... What do we do?
The other 4 dresses are correct.

Re: Wrong Bridesmaid dress delivered

  • My suggestion would be to have her find another dress that's as close to the design of the original dress as possible. I don't know how fancy or ornate the dresses are, but you may be able to find an appropriate substitute in a pinch.
  • Check eBay/Craigslist to see if you can find the correct one in her size.  There are lots of venues where bridesmaids try to get rid of old dresses, start investigating.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

If you can't find one online I would try to get a color and dress that is similar to the other BM dresses.

  • Call the retailer that she used and see what they can do about it.

How different is the color than it should be...?  Like, if everyone was supposed to get a certain shade of blue and her dress came in gray, then I'd think outside the box and let her wear it.  Of course - the chances of all of it looking nice together and working out like that are slim, huh?

I agree with the posters - try to find another one online through the mentioned websites or call the retailer directly and ask 'em what they are going to do about their failure.

Seriously. I'm coming from a laundry list of retail jobs and if this is really their screw up, they should disregard any 'rush' rules for this kind of slip up. That is a gross error on the retailer's part. Do NOT take no for an answer, keep asking for supervisor after supervisor until you get some kind of compromise from them. If I were you, I would demand that you get the correct dress on time with free shipping and 10% off.

If they won't, demand a refund and inform them you intend to write a scathing review.
  • My answer would be to raise hellfire with the retailer that screwed up so that the bridesmaid gets the correct dress on time. Has the retailer offered to do anything at all?
