HELP! Sandals Regency, St Lucia

Anyone been here? What did you think? I'm reading reviews on TripAdvisor and see lots of rave reviews, but then the bad ones are thrown in there and it's just confusing me! HELP!

I stayed at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian, but I did come here one night for dinner. I would definitely recommend the Grande over the Regency. I did the whole TripAdvisor reviews as well, but also had some good friends that went and stayed at both of them and they said they wished they only stayed at the Grande.

We originally booked at the Regency, but after they told us about their experience, we changed it. They said the walking was really, really tough...because it's nothing but hills and you're literally out of breath all the time. Just their opinion, but they also said the food/restaurants were nicer at the Grande.

We loved it at the Grande...I'd really recommend it to you!

Thanks kthame! What room did you/your friends stay in? How did you like it? The site has virtually no pictures!

Umm....I think we just had a basic room for our trip. Our friends had one of those swim up rooms, where the pool was right outside of their balcony. We didn't have that...we never really care much about the room b/c we're not in there often. We're beach bums so we prefer to be outside.

Also, there's a really, really cool trail along two of the large pitons next door to the resort and we walked up that...scary but such an amazing view! And, of course it's free...

I just remembered...we first got a room overlooking the outside of the resort (street and ocean across the street) and I asked if we could be moved to a poolside/ocean view room and they moved us the next day.

I think we are going to book the St Lucia Sandals Grande as well.  We spoke with a few travel agents and each has recommended the Grande as the "best" Sandals there.  It sounds like they are both great though...

We booked at the regency, but were torn between the two.  Ultimately I think it was more of the resturants we would have wanted at the regency (I doubt we'll go to the other resorts-we'll see).  Our travel agent said the regency was the nicest of the 3, like the most upscale.  I'll have more to tell you after June 13ish though :)

kthame - that swimup room would be my dream, but definitely way too expensive for us! haha! How did you like your room? That trail sounds awesome! And it's nice to know that they did the best they could to accommodate your requests!

megs - you'll have to write a review when you get back! SO EXCITING! Hope you have an awesome time!

kthame - what is the beach like? We are beach bums and are seriously considering the St. Lucia Grande. We love Hawaii, though, and are worried that the beaches just won't compare ... were you able to relax by the ocean? Is the water clean? I've heard mixed things - so any response would be MUCH appreciated!
