Re: B&M Monday

So my co-worker and carpooling buddy is trying to be more positive for lent.  I think that's a great thing...but now who am I supposed to gossip with???  :(

so, those of you who have been around may remember the story about the BM that bailed on my wedding day? I still think it's all really strange... even more so now.

Her sister is pregnant, and Mo got a bridal shower invitation in the mail on Friday.. that's right, "MO" did.. it was addressed only to him. He put the damn thing on the fridge and I so want to throw it away. It's coming down on the 27th which is when the shower is. Luckily I know he doesn't plan to go since it's in Missouri, but seriously.. who sends a bridal shower invite to a man who just got married and address it only to him, especially given the fact that the girls sister was suppose to be in the wedding but supposedly got soooo sick the night before the wedding that they had to drive back to Missouri??? No idea what I did to them, I had never even met them. I knew that the sister looked up to Mo as an uncle and really wanted to be a part of his big day, so I agreed to let her be a BM... wish I had said NO.

    Am I overreacting????

oh and also:  Friday I found the sweetest looking lab online at Richardson's Animal Shelter and I e-mailed Steve.  His reaction shocked me, "Let's go see him after work!" and I was like, "Sah-weet!!"...but then Steve got a project handed to him last minute and ended up working until after 6:30.  I waited in my car at his building to pick him up (he told me I could go see the dog without him and get him if I liked him and he was still there) but I didn't want to make that kind of a decision without Steve (I mean, getting a new dog is a family decision, so he should be there).  Anyway, we raced to the shelter before they closed at 7:00.  We got there at 7:10, but we knew we'd be wondering all night about the dog if we didn't try to make it in.  The guy at the shelter was so super nice and let us in, even though the door was locked.  Unfortunately, a family had come in about an hour and a half previously and had adopted Jet (the dog's name).  I was so sad...but I keep telling myself, "at least a good family got him.  He'll make a great family dog".  But I'm still pissed that Steve had to work late...I wonder if he had left at his normal time, if we would have been lucky enough to have snagged Jet...but it wasn't meant to be.

Long story short-I'm just bummed we didn't get a new dog this weekend.

Both Ollie (our puppy) and Brad got sick this weekend. So Mommy Marlene was rushing all over town taking them both to the doctor, getting their medicine,...yada yada yada. It was very exhausting and expensive! Ollie's vet visit cost us $90 (which I realize really isn't a lot, but for us, it is) and Brad's dr visit and medicines totaled about $120.

Suffice to say, it was an expensive, exhausting weekend!

So, FI and I registered this weekend.  I was so excited and spent most of Friday telling him how great it was going to be and that it was going to be a lot of fun, etc.  I even let him hold the gun, so he wouldn't tire out too fast.  Why is it that I was the one that was sick and tired of registering after only one hour!?!  It took forever and I was tired and hungry.  So, we did half the store on Saturday and the other half on Sunday.  The good news is that we have a very 'healthy' registry.

Oh my other B&M is that I may have to have surgery soon. What sucks about that, besides the pain, is that I just finished paying off this exact same surgery I had a year or so ago. I'm not looking forward to paying my huge @$$ deductable and whatever else my insurance doesn't cover.

    I hate this (*&#($*&@(#*$&(@*#&$(@*#&$(@*#&$(@*#&$ weather.

I am constantly stressed about our housing situation.  I have a townhouse that I can sell for a loss and FI has a huge 3 br house that we're trying to get ready to put on the market and it is constantly straining my nerves to try to get this done.

I think I got a case of food poisoning.  At least I hope that's all it is.  I have a lot of pain on my left side so I guess it could also be my appendix.  However, I had this exact same pain after a round of antibiotics back in November.  I thought it might be that the antibiotics cleaned out all the good bacteria so I was able to get it to go away with yogurt.  However, as soon as I get done with my 2nd middle school class, we are heading to Care Now or the Urgent Care by where we work.  I can barely move without being in pain and feel like I have been hit with a baseball bat.  Ugh.

I'm tired and this office is the last place I want to be.

I have a paper due at the end of the week that I have been putting off and now I've forgotten a lot of my ideas for it.

Under the 3 month mark for the wedding....and there seriously isn't anything left to do really.  It feels weird.

Julie, I had my appendix out a few years ago. A usual tell-tale sign it's your appendix is when you feel pain starting at your belly button and it goes around to your back. I'd get it checked asap. I hope they figure out your pain! I totally feel for you!

Thanks, Bdette!  It just hurts in my side--for right now.  Like a bad stitch.  However, I know things can change.  One of my students had an emergency appendectomy (aren't they all?) late last week and will be gone all this week!  I sure hope that's not my case because grades are due on Friday!

I left my lunch at home today and it was leftover Olive Garden. :( Now I have to eat can soup. Yum.....

I am tired of this weather too!!! I am so ready for spring!

I hate days when I oversleep and don't get to wash my hair. It's comparable to wearing uncomfortable underwear all day.

Nae-- I think that's very rude of them to not include you on the invite. They sound like they either have a problem with you or are perhaps just clueless. I have some friends who are unintentionally rude very often because they are just so utterly clueless.

Mariah--I would be very disappointed about the dog thing too. I felt the same way when I saw a stray that I wanted to pick up. I had to come back and look for it later and by then it was gone. Hopefully though, this just means another sweet shelter dog will find a new home with you.

I was out of work for a week and a half as well. I worked at a bank at the time and my dr said there was no way I'd be coming back to work and stand for 8 hours. And right he was.
But, I hope all goes well for you!

I hate when people call and leave a message on an answering machine and they use speaker phone to dial and then when the answering machine picks up and starts recording THAT'S when they decide to pick up their receiver and talk into it.  It hurts my ears when I'm checking the messages because of the clicking sound the receiver makes when being lifted off the cradle.  Is it that hard to hold a receiver to your ear if you're multi-tasking or even pick up the receiver BEFORE the answering machine starts recording?

I'm also irritated at people in my office who clearly don't know how to put their dirty dishes into the dish washer.  I am not your maid, your mom, or your wife.  Put your stuff in the dishwasher.

Mariah -  I volunteer with Pawsinthecity.org.  We have tons of adorable dogs that need a good home.  They're all listed online or we even have adoption events where you can meet them and play for a whlie.  The events are online too.

Nae- That is so odd, I don't even know what to begin to think of the situation.  Are you going to say anything?  I don't know if I could keep my mouth shut!

So FI registered this weekend at Crate & Barrel.  They let us come in before the store opened and had mimosas, coffee and food.  It was so fun!  I let Rick do the scanning too so he wouldn't get bored.  He ended up getting very frustrated at all the brides who brought their whole families but not thier fiances.  When we went to turn our scanner in and update the registry, two girls who were behind us literally yelled at the store employee who was about to help us  "hey, can you help us?" .  And she did!  I guess b/c they were already logging into the register doc, but still.  So annoyed.

    Seujoanne,
I am in the same situation you are in.  I have a townhome and luckily my husband moved from an apt to my place so we don't have a house to sell but already after 4 months of marriage, we are busting at the seams.  Nothing like having a storage unit that has more stuff in it than where you live.  Ugh.  I am getting hives wondering how long and if my place will ever sell.  I can't sleep very well either and it doesn't help when you see other units that have been on the market for over 6 months....some for over a year!  Depressing.  We really need to sell our place now since my husband got a new job and is commuting 2 hours a day...each way.  Poor thing.

My BM is that I had awful cramps yesterday and the doc put me on a pain muscle relaxer called Ponstel and I used it for the first time yesterday and it barely made a dent in the pain.  So, I got 2 hours of sleep last night.  I'm tired.

Ben's condo in Uptown has been on the market 8 months.  We're looking to rent it soon.  It kills me to know what a loss he will take if it ever sells.

I have gained almost all of the 8 lbs. I lost for the wedding.  In 3 months.  And it shows no sign of stopping since all I want is tortilla soup and pasta.

Stephie, if you don't mind me asking, did you ever tell us Knotties the results to your test you took last week? If you don't want that posted on here, I'll delete this comment.

Ugh, if Ben is having issues selling his place, I KNOW I will have issues selling mine.  I think since I live in the burbs that people are going to want a house, not a townhome.  Doesn't help that they don't have garages either.  I would think that Uptown would be a hot commodity but what do I know.

Hmm, I know what you mean.  I lost 8lbs for the wedding myself and I gained ALL of it back, plus some.  I call it the "happy" weight since getting married but right now I am not so happy.

Aaack, Donna!  I woke up with a splitting headache at 4 in the morning after mine.  Take some Excedrin!

Marlene, I got my period that next morning so no test was necessary!  :)

TCU, yeah, sorry I don't have better news.  It's depressing for sure.

My B&M is the knot changing the guest list manager.  I have to go to 3 different places to add or delete someone from one list or another.  I tried to be open minded about it, but its starting to get annoying.

And I have my fingers crossed it does not snow tomorrow.  It just makes getting to work nerve wracking.  And my work never closes.

So my MIL called David last night and said that she wanted a cell phone.  She's not a technology savvy person and had a cell phone in the past but never used it enough to warrant paying for the service.

Here's the kicker, they already have 5 people on their T-Mobile account (1 parent, 4 kids), and apparently 5 is the most lines you can have on one family plan.  So she wants to be on our phone plan.  David pretty much told her that was fine without asking me.  I'm pissed because I don't want her on our phone contract because I know she's not going to use it, and will probably want to cancel it within a few months.

Does anyone know if we would have to pay a penalty to get her off our contract if that happens?  I'm thinking we would have to.  I don't like it because it feels like if we let her do this, then we're going to have to help her and the rest of David's family out like this forever.  Like if someone needs someone to co-sign on something, I feel like we would be expected to step in to help them.  But since he's basically told her it's fine, I look like a bitch for saying that she can't join.

Steph, I know when I was looking to get my mom off of mine, T-Mobile said they would not charge us as long as she stayed with T-Mobile.  I can't remember if this is what she did or if it just so happened her part of the contract was up when she left though.

More than likely you will have to pay for breaking your contract.  I know T-Mobile is $200 but it prorates the closer you are to the end of your contract.

What about a pay as you go phone?
  • edited December 2011
Yes, you'l always have to pay a penalty to cancel a contract.

Steph - get her a prepaid handset from any major carrier. That way you won't be legally bound by anything.

I drove back from Nashville yesterday. It was a really long drive and I'm still tired. And I'm stressed about where I'm going to fit all my stuff.

We're looking to join a gym this week. About 2 miles from us, there are a 24 Fitness and a LifeTime Fitness, across the street from each other, but I don't know which to choose. Any opinions?
  • edited December 2011
What are you looking for in a gym? LifeTime is probably going to be more expensive, but it depends on what you are looking for. I cancelled my 24hr membership when a Planet Fitness opened up near me.. they have a plan that's only $10/month
