I Judge - gym ettiquette edition

Re: I Judge - gym ettiquette edition

  • I don't get trying to claim the same treadmill/bike/eliptical everytime when you go to the gym. There's a woman at my gym who has to have the treadmill on the end. To the point that she'll tell people to get off of it so she can run.
  • So many things to judge:

How about NOT coming to the gym with swine flu and blowing your nose on the towel you're using to wipe the machine? Actually happened.

Picture a 65 year old woman in a sports bra (white, with cups and the hook and eye in the back--basically a bra) with spandex tights and a g-string type thingy over the tights. She WAS in the ladies-only fitness center, but it's really not a change room.

The folks who sign up for equipment and just squeeze their name in before yours.

If the machine has a 30 minute time limit, then you should probably not use to for 2 hours (actually happened again).

Don't blow snot rockets in the shower. We can all hear you.
  • My gym requires women to sign up for the cardio machines. I just the 95 percent of women who don't do this!

[QUOTE]I hate it when people don't rerack the weights. I nearly lost the squat rack this week because I spent so much time walking around trying to find the bloody 2.5 lb plates. It'd also be helpful if the gym had more than 2 sets of those....

    YES.

Also, we have a training area at my gym, but it isn't walled off or anything. People come in all the time and workout, despite the signs saying, "this area reserved for trainers and their clients only." Or they'll come take the equipment and when they trainers tell them they can't use it they argue. "But there aren't any fitness balls out there!" Yeah, which is why THESE stay in the trainer area. The trainers need to use them and the idiots out there don't put anything away. Walk around and find them.

  • I judge...

People that use the equipment wrong, and break them, or think that because it doesn't belong to them, it shouldn't be used by anyone else that has a paying membership. Even after many attempts to help them use the equipment properly.

People that use cellphones while working out on equipment. (if they have blue tooths, that's fine, as long as they can focus on what they are actually doing, instead of handling the phone, and focusing on the phone, and not the equipment) The sign clearly states that you shouldn't have cellphones, and yet dumb people injure themselves by kinking out their neck.

Ditto on people sitting on the equipment, and not using it. This is a gym for heaven's sake, use it, or beat it man!

  • I judge the gym itself for selling sugary milkshakes masquerading as "meal replacement drinks." And, of course, I judge people for drinking them.

Also, I judge people who think Gatorade is the best thing to drink when working out normally and leave the bottles in the cardio machines.

  • I hate people who bring their big gym bags out on the floor. Buy a freaking padlck and shove it in a locker, or put it in your car.

Thank god my gym has a kids room.

Not totally gym-related, but I judge the guy at the Fitness shop the other day for trying to talk me out of the protein shake I wanted. "Are you going to work out? Because people usually have those before their workouts, not after, because they're high in calories so they just go burn them off." Actually, ALL the protein shakes have the same kind of protein, I'm using it as a meal repacement, and I just burned about 400 calories over 45 minutes of lifting weights. Dumbass. Doesn't matter if I burn my calories before or after.

[QUOTE]Makeup at the gym. The girls that come to class and giggle the whole time because they find certain parts hard. The woman who blow dries her hair and puts her makeup on with a bra and nothing else. I don't want to stare at your twat. Put on underwear for god's sake. Anyone who attempts to speak to me. I also judge the hot pregnant woman in my class who doesn't pause between sets and uses heavier weights and keeps going and looks amazing. Thanks for making me feel like a loser for being exhausted!

  • I judge the person who takes the center of the three person (and only) crunch/sit up pad. Its another bubble issue but I promise the pad is just as squishy on the sides as in the center.

This reminds me, I judge the women who don't bring a lock but still put their stuff in the lockers. I hate having to open 5 lockers before I find an empty one. Also, you don't know if the women in the gym are trustworthy. My friends suggested that I move someone's clothes from one locker to another to mess with them but I could never do that.
  • I judge the guy who wears the purple parachute pants with the purple shirt that looks like the scary husband from Sleeping With the Enemy.

I judge my trainer, who I like, but fits the meathead description, would it really hurt you to pick up a newspaper to figure out who the President or First Lady is? Or that 15 comes after 14.

I judge the douchebag guy who walks around like a caged tiger while his friends are doing abs. You don't look cool, you are not cute, and if you're not there to work out leave.
  • I judge the people who stand right behind your treadmill when all the other ones are taken (usually in January when everyone decides to go back to the gym), waiting for you to get done. I want to be really rude and say "take a seat at the bench and wait your turn, it looks like you've not had problem sitting on your ass the past 30 years, another 15 minutes isn't going to hurt you at this point!"

I also judge the lady at my gym that looks like and has the same hair as the grandmother from Napolen Dynamite. She also works out in cut off denim shorts. But what really roasts my beef is the fact she is a beast on the eliptical and could kick my ass...

[QUOTE] I judge the people that set the incline alllll the way to the top on the treadmill, and then hang off of it because they can't keep up. I will also accept "I don't get"s.

LOL. I totally judge people for this. I also judge the naked girl dying her hair in the locker room (it makes it worse that she looks like skelatore).

  • I wish our gym had a separate training area. The trainers and people who work out with them act like they own the whole place.

[QUOTE]Oooh and my current biggest wtf--the guys who turn the fans off or don't let me turn them on. Does anyone know the logic behind this? It really pisses me off.

My problem is the opposite- there are people who turn it on higher or turn it more towards themselves and blast me in the face. Also very annoying!

I judge this too. I also judge flirting at the gym. Please just work out and stop trying to pick up men/women.

  • I judge pretty much everything you all judge and this:

I judge girls who go to the gym in packs. There are 3 girls at my gym who always come in together, always in tracksuit outfits (matching pants/tanks/hoodies), hair down and curly, makeup on, big earrings in, etc. And they have to work out together. I've seen them prance around and wait for over 20 minutes so they can get 3 ellipticals in a row. Then they go to the weights and one will lift the 5lb ones while the others wait and tell her how good she's doing, then they switch. Seriously, Barbie, get out of my way!

This one is horrible, but I judge my friend who asked me to help her workout and loose weight, then spent four hours lounging in the pool while I ran.

That said, I judge the teens and tweens who use the pool like it’s right in their own backyard. Laps or GTFO.

I also judge anyone on the treadmill in flip flops. And the women who open the shower curtain while I’m in it – hello, can you not hear the water?
