Who brings a 5 YEAR OLD to go see Avatar???
The poor kid was asking "is it over yet?" about 10 minutes in. The mom kept on shushing him and telling him to put on his 3D glasses because it'd get better. He'd rather be watching Thomas the fuucking Tank Engine, and there's nothing wrong with that.
After someone said 'shiit', he said "someone said a bad word" and about 20 minutes later, the mom took him and the 3 other kids she had with her out. Thank GOD. What a waste of her money.
Oh, and someone puked like 10 minutes before the end of the movie. Twice. Thank god I couldn't smell it.
Other than that, the movie was really good.
How's it hangin' around here?

When the last lord of the Rings movie came out, I went to the late night showing to avoid the noisy, family type crowds. Sure enough, right in front of me was a family with a bunch of kids that looked under 10 and one looked no more than 5. I'm sorry, not really a kid movie. The poor little one was scared of "the monsters" when he should have been home. a 3 1/2 hour movie that doesn't end until 1 am, is NOT the place for children.
wow. I went off. Sorry for the rant.
besides that, how are you?

Sorry, I got distracted by Julie's GORGEOUS wedding video!
I had no desire to see the movie, but I enjoyed it and am glad that I saw it. My moh's h is a film person and he told us about how revolutionary this was and explained it in terms that I could understand.
The kid was quite well behaved, even when he was laying down and almost kicking my bag. I'm glad that she left, though. The kid was whining that he was tired - the movie started at 7:30 and it was probably close to his bedtime!

EDIT - There was a crying baby in the theatre when I went to see The Blind Side and that was pretty annoying. Thankfully, the mother took him/her out about 30 minutes in.
It's a shame that people won't go and see it because of that - it's a really good movie and I enjoyed it a lot.

mery - apparently this was revolutionary because it was filmed with a camera that has 2 lenses (like our eyes). I don't know how they'll translate old stuff to it, but the way it was filmed will perhaps change movies forever.

[QUOTE]Hm, I did not hear about this theory. Is it possible to enjoy the movie without the political overtones? I prefer to be oblivious to stuff like that if I'm watching/reading it for entertainment purposes.

Yes. It's a world where there are big blue people. It doesn't take a lot to suspend your reality.

About the military being seen in bad light, It is a typical, we want something that is worth alot and we will be bullys to get it. The people didn't seem like military as much as hired contractors.
He really was pretty good considering everything, but I still think it wasn't the right place for him.
How old is Ben, again? I forget.

And I hate parents that take their kids to adult movies instead of just getting a babysitter. It just seems so selfish to me. I went to see a 10 pm showing of Apocolypto a few years ago and there were several 4 and 5 year olds. That is definitely not a kids movie and it pissed me off.
It really does bug me, though that they market this movie to kids (via Happy Meal toys, etc), but it's rated PG-13 and is clearly an adult movie. I just don't get it.
Why were they boycotting it? Because they were miffed that the couples portrayed in the movie were heterosexual, and why would the directors assume that the majority of relationships in the future would be hetero?
Sigh...
I want to see it
