Asking here because I know I won't get sugar coated answers :)

Hi Ladies....my shower is coming up in a few weeks and we registered at three stores: JC Penny, Sears, and Target.  Each store has a variety of items at each price point.
I just looked at our registries and JC Penny is almost wiped clean.  The other two stores have hardly been touched.  Do i need to add more items at JC Penny or will people see that most of that has been bought and shop at the other two stores.

Re: Asking here because I know I won't get sugar coated answers :)

  • People should be able to shop at the other two stores. I mean, nothing is stopping you from adding stuff, but I wouldn't add stuff JUST to add stuff, you know?

  • I don't think it's a big deal if you add more to the JCP one.  But if you don't, yeah, they'll either go to the other stores or give you cash/GC's probably.

So, if you think there is other stuff you want at JCP go ahead and add it.

  • I think you would be fine with what you already have and if they want to shop at Penney's, you'll probably just wind up with a gift card if everything is off the registry.

  • I wonder if its because a lot of people have JC Penny's charge cards? Same thing happened to me with my Macys registry. I didnt add anything and ended up with a lot of gift cards...which is better than just adding to add imo.

  • Unless you're in a situation where you (or a number of your shower guests) live in a remote area where JCP is the most convenient store, I'd just leave it alone.
  • I actaully got asked my by Aunt why I did not register at Kohl's (Every family member has a card there as do most guests) I just don't like their registry haha. I am not against Kohl's gift cards. I could care less if people buy at another store. If I get duplicates I am aware of the return policies. If you want to move things from one store to JCP that is fine too.

  • You can add more if you want, but you don't have to. People will move on to the next stores. It could easily just have to do with the fac tthat maybe you posted JC as the first "link" or whatever, so everyone went there first. With ease of online shopping, they will branch out to the other two.
  • Thanks ladies.  I really don't want to add stuff. hahaha

jc penny had a lot of the traditional things (towels, sheets, dishes) and i have a feeling my FMIL bought most of the stuff (she has a JCP addiction)...along with a few of the "older" guests.

I like the stuff on the other registries and hope people go to those ones :) (sears and target are actually closer for most of our guests....(which is why i think FMIL bought most of the stuff at JCP)
  • Probably. :) We only registered at Macy's and a lot of people don't live anywhere near them... thank goodness for online! :P
My grandparents, btw,  HATE our china we picked. They love the gold, flowery, blah china (sorry if I offended anyone... I get it if you're into vintage or girly stuff... but our house is extremely modern in desgin and decor) So they bought our very expensive silverwear. SCORE! I know, random.. but I think it's hilarious that she refused to buy our china because they aren't all pretty and cheerful haha

<div>FMIL are like that. Haha. Mine wiped my Target one absolutely clean. She said, "I can't help it, I love Target." </div>
  • I got Macy's and Target (gotta love them), but there is still lots left to go....don't get me wrong, i am not a gift collector, just thinking if the prices there are to high. The most expensive item would be around 100 (some bedding set).

Don't add or change, they will get the point that they should check the other one.
