Re: QOTD 7/19

  • I care about having the overall 'structure' of a typical wedding, but not so much on certain details. Like I don't care about doing a garter toss, bouquet toss, WP dance, mother/son dance, father/daughter dance. I just wanna get the party started :-P

I'm also not a fan of the stereotypical 'wedding' stuff that you can find in the aisles at Michael's & Party City.

  • The only thing I don't care for are FG or RB. I don't want kids there period but we've agreed on families kids who are 9 and over. Otherwise all other traditions I want!

I care about no kids there aside from my daughter as the flower girl and fi cousin who is the ring bearer and the rb's sister. RB's sister (fi cousin) is a few years younger than us but is like fi younger sister.

Don't want it to be a "cookie cutter" type wedding.

  • I don't care for the flowergirl or ring bearer aspect.  Or the unity ceremony.

I'm super excited about the garter toss and bouquet toss though!  Maybe that's just because we're one of the first of our friends to get married.

  • I'm really not into all the wedding traditions, but you all knew that already!  We're skipping most of the reception traditions and just getting to the party!  I also don't want it to be a cookie cutter type wedding.

I really care about having good entertainment and good decor.  This is where we've put the money.  I wish there were more elements I didn't care about- then I wouldn't have such a hard time with budget!

  • I'm all about most of the traditional stuff.  I remember having a blast at weddings back in the 80s and early 90s when I was growing up, so I intend to have all the cheesiness.

Since my dad passed away a few years ago, I am doing a few traditional things a little differently.  My oldest brother and my mom will be giving me away.  That brother is in a wheelchair, so I'm going to have my other brother dance with me in place of the father-daughter dance, and we'll be combining it with the mother-son dance to save a little time.

I also have hopes of teaching the wedding party how to do the Thriller dance.  A few of us took a class last fall and it was a blast.  Just not sure if I'll get everyone to agree to it.  But, with the right amount of alcohol, anything is possible.  Cool
  • I think what I care most about, other than the getting married part, is that everything reflect us and is more personal. Trying to not do things just to do them. Lol. I do like a lot of the more traditional elements though. What I'm not too concerned with is picking every tiny detail, like every specific flower, etc. As long as the overall look and feel fits us and our vision, I'm happy. And, even if nothing turns out how we like, I'll just be happy to be married to my love.

  • I care about fliowers & decor, but also that I be able to have the attendants I want (i know its my wedding, but my parents have been pressuring me to add people they want me to add to 'save face'.

I dont care about a flower girl/ring bearer, although we currently have 2 flower girls but no ring bearer.

I dont care about the bouquet toss, garter toss, mother/son & father/daughter dance.

Definitely do not care about or for the garter toss. I am wayyyyy too easily embarrassed in public to let FI climb under my dress and emerge with something in his mouth. Surprisingly, I also haven't found myself caring for videography very much. I really like the little 5-8 minute highlight reels that I see, but I don't want to have to pay to have the whole wedding taped so that I can have a cute highlight reel, and I just really haven't been able to convince myself that the amount of money it will cost to have it done how I'd like it done is justified. Photography is the most important element to me so we are spending a great deal on that. I almost want someone to convince me that I need a videographer.

FI really really cares about food, as he's a chef.

I care about the entertainment and decor mostly.

I do enjoy the cheesey aspects of the reception to extent but wouldn't break my heart if they weren't done.

I just want everyone to have fun.
