Wedding Woes

knee-high boots + pencil skirt?

yay or nay?

And can I wear black tights with a raspberry-colored pencil skirt? I feel like that would look stupid.

Would it look more stupid to wear the pencil skirt with heels and no legwear of any kind? (It's 49 degrees right now & will be a little colder this evening.)

Any other ideas?

Ergh.

Re: knee-high boots + pencil skirt?

  • yay
    yes
    yes
    none

sidenote - i just bought fleeced tights to wear in the winter, and i am so excited i could wear these with flats and not be as freezing as when i wear plain opaque tights.
  • You're fine and I'm sure you'll look terrific.
  • Are your boots black?

  • Boots are black.

I settled on a dress I'd worn a few weeks ago and got compliments on. It'll work.

  • Boot and pencil skirt is hot.  Do it.

I go bare legged with heels and skirts all the time.  You can do that too.

As long as your shoes/boots are black, I see no harm in black tights with raspberry skirt.
  • yes

yes since the boots are black too

no, assuming you're not going to be spending copious amounts of time outside

not without knowing more about the event/contents of your closet
  • ftr, i voted "yes" on bare legs being stupid because it's frozen balls cold here and going out with bare legs is crazy. i'm looking at you, guy walking around in cargo shorts and a puffy jacket.

  • 2 grad students I knew in college had a bet about who could go the longest without putting on real pants. Weddings and funerals (and maybe something else like job interviews, IDK) didn't count, but otherwise, they had to wear shorts or pay up.

Neither ever caved. For YEARS. They walked around for several winters in shorts and puffy coats.

  • Oh, and if you didn't catch it on FB, I apparently looked so nice that Des told me I was a new mom.

I got several compliments on the dress at the event, too. So weird. I never would have thought.

And now I need new stuff to be able to wear my boots with. :)
