Nevada-Las Vegas

Total Rewards noob.

We booked our hotel through TR and I'm trying to figure out how this works.. (VG I'm looking at you) I'm just full of speculation here!

I remember reading something about needing your TR card to check in. Well I have my printed temporary, do I need to hit up a stand and get my real one?

I also read something about not checking in at the hotel desk but rather go through the TR desk?

Any other perks/good things to know about TR and what I can do with it?

I'm 80% sure I'm going to be standing in the middle of strip with my wedding binder spinning in circles like a confused @$$hole..

  • I don't know if it matters either way as far as having your card or not, but if you really want it, just go to the TR desk and have them print you one when you arrive and then you can check in.  I have not heard of people checking in at the TR desk and don't typically see people with luggage there so I don't think that's possible.  You can definitely check out via a casino host or the TR desk though if you're expecting comps.

Once you have your TR card, you should present it at any TR-owned business you spend money at, in addition to always using it when you gamble at a TR property.  You won't rack up a huge amount of points just from eating meals and things but anything is more than nothing so might as well get credit for it.  You can check your TR balance via their website and as you gain points, you can redeem them for dollars off your bill when you check out.  If you have a rewards credit card that pays 1% or better in real money or equivalent benefits, that will probably still get you more than TR's effective redemption rate on non-gambling points accrued though so still charge rather than putting everything on your room in those cases.

  • USE YOUR CARD! Sorry cant' stress it enough. My parents were in Vegas in Jan. and they ended up with a crap load of free things from the TR. Comps on meals, didn't have to pay the resort fees, free shows.  My mom stressed to charge items to your room whenever you could through the TR so you collect points. They're so handy!

  • I wish I had known that before Missax! I told the people coming with us to sign up themselves to get the discount.

  • I'm not sure if all Total Reward casinos participate, but I was able to earn points for the ceremony and reception at Caesars. Some shops at the Miracle Mile will offer 10% off your purchase, you'll see a sign in the front if they offer it.
