What to do 2 yr ahead of time?

Hey girls, I'm still 2 years out from our wedding and we don't have our location  yet (we're taking a long weekend this summer to check a few out and pick) so I can't do any research for photographers or anything like that. I do know my date, most of my bridal party, and my colors. My friend is helping design our invites and everything, and we've already gotten started talking about designs.

Is there anything else I can be doing this far in advance? Since I have the time, I'd love to start working on things now so I don't leave it all for the months leading up to the wedding. But I don't know what I can do! Any ideas? TIA! :)

  • If you plan on doing OOT bags, etc you could stock up on non-perishables when they are on sale,  for them so that way you get them done ahead of time.  Also, things like flip-flops, if doing a flip-flop basket, etc.  As the PP said things I am sure will change in 2 years, so just get things that you are sure you will use.

I agree to probably hold off on buying too much 2yr ahead of time.  But it's def a good time to scope out some places (and get a vacation out of it) and start finding some inspiration!  You could also probably stock up on some great OOT bag stuff at the end of the season- like flip flops, beach towels (if you want to cart those to your location), and other beachy stuff.  Happy Planning!
  • You can HELP ME! I've got less than 6 months and we have not really done anything!

  • lol tinkertoy I'd love to help!!

thanks for all the suggestions girls. I was thinking if there was some sort of DIY I could get started on then this would be a good time. Seems like I'll probably need to wait a little bit longer though, aside from maybe stocking up on some sale stuff that I find along the way! thanks!
  • Hey LC :)

I'd say to start dreaming! I tend to get ahead of myself on details easily, and am often reminded how much easier and better it is to choose details once I have an idea of the big picture. It's also the #1 starting point for the guy who does one of the WC shows.

Ask yourself: What kind of ambiance do you want? The rest will follow :)

  • I completely understand...I have a year and a half to our wedding.  I've put a deposit down on our wedding planner/site and started working on the wedding favors for AHR!  I agree...keep gathering ideas and you'll be off to a great start!
    Good luck!
  • One suggestion I would make for something NOT to do (even though it will be hard) is go dress shopping.  Styles will change by then, and if you find something you love, you'll either have to buy it right then, or run the risk that it won't be there when you're actually ready to buy.  I know that's most brides' favorite part, but resist!  You'll be better off for it.
