We need a new thread

I see everyone randomly posting, and there just isn't a thread where we can just chat.  So here it is.  Whats everyone up to?  I have a frozen pizza in the oven and am enjoying a whipped cream vodka and diet coke.

Andy, how was your dinner?

  • hey there.

I'm trying to figure out how to deal with my BFF who isn't dealing well with the fact that I am no longer available 24/7 to IM.  It was fine when I was in the states or Europe and wasn't working, but now I'm working random shifts and am 14 hours different and when BFF is awake and wants to chat, H is just getting home from work and I want to spend time with him and not on the computer.

  • I had ribeye, pasta with a very light cream sauce, and salad minus all the lettuce-y stuff (so, raw veggies with some dressing).  And, remember the sparkling grape juice for kids to celebrate with?  Yeah, I bought a bottle of that the other day for variety, and I'm having it.  Not bad!

  • I am watching it Andy.  I have the Cowboys defense so I'm not thrilled, but I've already destroyed H so it doesn't really matter.  My team didn't do that amazing, but his team did horrible.

aMrs- I totally understand.  Its hard for me to keep in touch a lot with my friends from home too because of the time change and stuff, and thats only 3 hours.  What about emailing eachother?  That way you can each do it on your own time?

  • amrs - I actually know what you are going through.  my gchat doesn't work at my new job and it sucks b/c you have to find another way to maintain a long distance friendship.

squirry - I love that stuff.

  • Haha Squirrly I've had that before too.  I was staying with my 16 year old cousins when her Mom went away, and we bought a bottle of it to have with dinner one night.  It was really good.

Oh, and speaking of steaks, just an FYI.  Don't buy steaks at Wal-Mart.  H and I wanted to grill steaks his last night home, and I needed to stop at Wal-mart anyways for some travel size things for his carry-on.  I figured I would just grab steaks there to save myself a trip.  Yeah they were horrible.  Don't do it.

  • Hi girls! I'm not going to be here for all that long, because FI is bugging me to go watch a movie with him, but for now I'm sitting here with my kitty cats, relaxing after being out all day. We drove over to a corn maze near Madison, and had a really good time! It was the first time in a corn maze for both of us, and I am happy to report that we did not get lost. :)

  • Hey!  Loving the Packer game right now.  Probably not staying up for the 2nd half though.  I am old, and since it's a blowout at halftime I'm going to go to bed soon and hope for the best.
  • Well it would help if I had anything nice to say/anything good going on.  But as it stands, things are rough here and no one wants to hear someone complain all the time KWIM?  So I've tended to pull back from everyone.  I just don't have it in me to lie to everyone.  No one knows that I work at a fast food place.  It's just better to have everyone think H is still doing well enough for me to be a SAHW, than have them all concerned about what went so terribly wrong that I have to work at BK.

So far I've used the whole limited internet excuse.

  • I totally skipped dinner in favor of Cocoa Spice tea.  I am freezing.  I would put on my slippers and fix some soup if I weren't a lazy bum.
December 18, 2010!!! Never thought I would be a winter bride; just hoping we don't get snowed in until AFTER the wedding!
  • I've been at work for 9 hours and I'm yet to have a meal break.  I'm about ready to eat my desk...or I could eat my mouse...Hmmm

  • Loopy- by far my favorite thing about living on the West coast is thats sports are on earlier.  So Sunday and Monday Night Football are over around 8:30, which leaves me plenty of time to watch Desperate Housewives.

aMrs- That stinks, I understand though.  That would frustrate me too.

Squirrly- Those sound delicious.  Have you ever had deep fried Oreos?

  • aMrs, you've gotta fess up somewhere.  Everybody needs the support of their family and friends.  And, you could always tell them you took the job because being a true SAHW got old, and it was what was available.

wish that would work, but my F&F know that if I was that bored as a SAHW I'd be volunteering at the animal shelter long before I ever entertained working at BK.
ETA: I have until Jan 9th to find a better job.  SIL and H's kids are coming out or two weeks and they don't know either.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the way your Packers are dominating, thank you!  Any team that kicks the Cowboys into submission is OK with me (Redskins fan).  Go Packers!!!
  • Well, hi there, folks! Scott's working, I'm flipping between SVU and football. I kicked Georgia's ass tonight in FF.

  • dnb, no, but I've had dessert ravioli made with puff pastry dough filled with crushed snickers and topped with caramel sauce after they're deep fried.  A restaurant I used to work at long ago served those.  I worried about guests who wanted to split them - after one bite, you're going to defend that bowl with a vengence.

I had another very yummy thing today.  We went to an awesome brunch place today that does a very cool "bread" basket with cornbread and flavored muffins and stuff, plus three spreads - a raspberry and smoked something or other preserves, a maple nut butter, and an apricot habanero marmalade.  Oh my god, the marmalade is SO FUUCKING GOOD.

Our server was a bit inattentive, and the manager came to appologize, and basically to offer to comp something.  I just asked to buy some marmalade, and instead she gave me some - about a cup worth.  I'm SO excited.  Yay!  It's not spicey at all - it just has such great flavor.

  • Squirrly that thing the described at your old job sounds amazing.  If you ever see deep fried Oreos, stop and get yourself some.  H and I went to the NY State Fair right before we moved, and a friend told me to eat some for her.  So being the good friend that I am I obliged, and they were amazing.

Sarah- After reading Andy's comment I checked out your bio too.  Its really cute and I think your wedding will be a lot of fun.  Thats so cool that you're getting married in an Elephant.

I DVRed all of today's episdoes that I didn't recognize as seeing befoore.  I will probably watch them tomorrow since Criminal Intent is on tomorrow and I don't like it as much.

And I kicked H's ass in Fantasy this week, but I feel a little guilty about it because of what he's going through.  But if he was here I wouldn't stop rubbing it in his face.  And I totally admit, I did rub it in his face a little bit in the email I sent.
