Venue Ideas

Hello all.  We're planning a wedding for 100 people and are looking to have a pp cost of <=$120 including gratuity and tax for a reception and on-site ceremony.  On top of that we're going to have photographer, flower, officiant, etc costs but that was our goal for the venue itself.

Friday night is an option for us which is helping make that number a reality and we're thinking March or April 2012.  It seems like early March has good deals, but I'm a little concerned about potentially end of winter snowstorms and all that.  We may have to hope for the best though to make this happen.

Our main concerns are making sure the guests have a good time so good food and alcohol are important.  Some places seem to offer a dizzying array of choices more than anyone could possibly try and eat and that's not as important as long as the food that is available is good.

Open bar cocktail hour is important, but we can drop down to just beer and wine with dinner if that helps costs (so far I haven't seen that being offered though).

Decor we don't need anything opulent, just nice looking.

We're in central north NJ (Westfield area) and are willing to drive up to an hour in any direction. North Jersey by NYC waterfront type places are totally out of the price range.

Any location suggestions?  Thanks!  Very excited!

We're having our reception at the Versailles Ballroom in Toms River, it's a bit far from you but definitely within your budget.

Check out Doolans Shore Club in Spring Lake - their pricing is on their website - (I'm getting married there next July so I'm biast) but their food is awesome and their prices are very reasonable for what you get (which is a lot) www.doolans.com

Gotta recommend my venue :)  Try Seasons in Washington Township, northern NJ.  You can definitely get a Friday night in their upstairs room for less than $120 pp during those months, since they are considered offseason.  They have amazing food, especially their cocktail hour!

I second Doolan's...I'm getting married there next July as well. People are quick to criticize it but you should definitely take a look for yourself.

Karlcheryl- when are you getting married??

vikkipass78 -  Sunday July 08th (I tried PM but it errored out)
I'm looking for hair & makeup... if you have someone to recommend please pass it along :0)  Looks like you are 2 days before me!

swifty1 - vikkipass is correct - it was just renovated and it looks amazing - most bad reviews I have seen were based on how it looked pre-renovation.  I'm sure anywhere you choose will be perfect for you :-)

Our reception is at The Tides next month and we're anticipating about 100-110 guests total. We're paying $100pp including everything, plus extending the bar for an extra hour, and adding in the Viennese hour and raw bar during cocktail hour.

We're using the smaller downstairs room, which a lot of people are quick to judge, but they just renovated and it is beautiful. We saw it on Saturday. Plus, it has the privacy factor--no one will accidentally wander downstairs or get lost, so you really are in your own little world.

We had our reception at Hamilton Park Hotel in Florham Park and it was perfect!! Super modern and the food is amazing!! For an off season Friday, it should be in your price range and I think their Friday minimum is around 100 (ours was a Saturday night in June so it was higher, but the minimum was still only 125 people)

Have to give a shameless plug for our venue - David's Country Inn in Hackettstown. It's kinda in the middle of nowhere but it's a very unique venue. It's like a 19th century mansion with tons of amazing detail, fireplaces and a gorgeous ballroom. Plus it's reasonable and the staff is amazing. Would be perfect for a March/April wedding. And it's only one event per day, so it's all yours!

Perona Farms! We are having 60 pp though on a Sunday and it is only 95 per person. The is including all the food, alcohol, use of silverware and china, the cake... and etc. The venue is beautiful and even the prices for Friday nights were good also.
