Is this dress RD appropriate?

I got this dress to wear to my shower with the intention of getting something else for the RD. Now my mother is telling me I'm all out of dress money and I can't afford the extra expense right now. Blah blah blah

The RD setting is at a country club but it's a "West Texas BBQ" buffet. Not ribs or anything else messy, but it is still a BBQ buffet.

It's above the knee on me but not inappropriately short. The skirt is also a little fuller than appears in the picture. Thoughts?

  • I don't think your finances are your mother's business.  If you're old enough to get married, you are old enough to manage your own money.

I think the dress is cute and appropriate =]

TOTALLY can pull this off for your RD too...just dress it down (it's SO cute, btw). Pair it with cowboy boots (or ballet flats, depending on your style) and some terquiose jewelry for a  West Texas themed RD.

    SO cute!!!!!

p.s. Was your mom the one buying the dresses? Or is she just being critical of you?

  • I think it is appropriate,  Super cute too! I would just cange how you styled it from the shower so it doesn't look exactly the same. If you are worried about that.
  • I think the dress is wicked cute, however is your mom paying for your party dresses? If so I understand where she is coming from, and if not, your finances are none of her business.

  • I agree with the other ladies. It is very appropriate just use different jewerly and shoes to change the look of it.
  • Sorry I didn't clarify! I was just sort of whining - what happened was I assumed she was going to get me a dress for the RD because we had shopped around some for one. Then when it came down to me finding one to order online she told me I needed to pay for it myself because she was tired of spending money on all this extra stuff! I'm finishing up school this semester so money is a little tight until I start my real job this summer.

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm going to play around with accessories so get ready for some PIP posts later on :)

Also, LOVE the cowboy boots idea! FI and I both grew up in Texas so it's very fitting.
