How long did it take you?

Today at work a bunch of us were talking and someone asked me how long the DH and I dated before we got engaged. I gave my answer and I could tell that they were judging me. I know that our courtship was short but not eyes bugging out short. So it made me wonder How long were you dating before you got engaged and how long will you be engaged for when you get/got married?

First Date: 6/26/2009
Engagement Date: 2/20/2010
Wedding Date: 12/11/2010

    We were engaged 5 months into our relationship (9 months after meeting). We will be married 18 months after the engagement and two weeks before our 2 year anniversary.

    FI and I were together a while before we got engaged. We will have been together almost 6.5 years since when we first started dating until when we get married.

    Right now we're a little less than 3 weeks from our 2nd anniversary.  But we met and knew right away we wanted to get married.  We sort of have two engagment dates.  The 1st was the  day he asked me, the 2nd was the day I got the ring and we shared the news with the family.   He didn't want to share with the familiy untill he got a ring.

    First Date: 11/15/07
    Engaged: 05/07/08 or 08/07/08 (depending on what date you count)
    Married: 03/21/09

    We started talking seriously about getting married about 7months after we started dating, He mentioned the thought of actually Wanting to propose on our post Xmas trip to Disney that year. On our one yr anniversary he gave me a trip to Disney and a cruise, along with a hint about a ring. We went on the cruise just shy of a year and a half together and he proposed. By the time we get married it will be almost 3.5 years. The lag for the actual wedding is more about saving up for a wedding and a house, or we would have done it fall 11 Dating 5/1/09 Engaged 10/10/10 Wedding Date 9/15/12

    FI & I have been together forever (well at least that is what it feels like!!) LOL We will hit 9 years this May!! CRAZZZY!

    FI and I were friends and hung out for a few years before we started seriously dating.

    We Met: Approximately July 19, 2004
    We Started Dating: May 28, 2006
    We Were Engaged: August 9, 2010
    We Will Marry: October 1, 2011

    So...by the time we wed, we will have been together almost 5.5 years and will have known eachother 7.25 years.

    We were dating for almost 14 months when we got engaged and we have an 18 month engagement.  His cousin set us up and she seems to have a knack for match-making...she's introduced 3 couples that have gotten married.

    We were dating about a year and a half before we got engaged but we started talking about it maybe 6 months after we started dating.

    so by the time we're married, we'll have been together a little over 6.5 years...damn!

    We were engaged almost doubly as long as we were dating. We knew very early on how serious we were and how different our relationship was than any others we had been in previously.

    We met June 6th, 2008.. he kept trying to ask me out, but I kept turning him down (I wasn't ready for a relationship because I had just gotten out of a really BAD one a few months prior) so I kept telling him we could meet up with our friends. So we did a few "group hangs" lol before I finally let him take me out just the two of us near the end of June/early July. Once I let him in, I fell for him hard and fast. We became exclusive and seriously dating on August 1st.. the day before I left for a weeklong cruise. Longest week of my life!

    We got engaged on February 13th, 2009

    We got married on June 26th, 2010

    FI and I were high school sweethearts. We started dating when I was a junior in high school and have been together 10 years in August! We will have been engaged almost 2 years before we get married (it took me almost a year of being engaged to realize I need to start planning)!

    FI and I dated in high school for about a year, then lost touch for about 5. We reconnected in 2008, and sparks flew all over again! Started dating (again) late April 2008 Moved in together February 2009 Engaged 7/1/10 Will be married 9/22/12

    FI and I were best friends in high school, parted ways in college, re-connected in the summer of 2007 and started dating in February 2009. Bought our home after a year of dating. Got engaged in Dec 2010, and we will have an 18 month engagement. We've known each other since we were 16! But we've only been dating for the past 2 years. On our wedding day, it'll be 3 1/2 years total. Time FLIES!

    I think age has something to do with it. At 28, most of my friends have been together since high school or college, so being together for 10 years is fine for them. FI and I were already through all that when we got together. When you're a little older, you don't need to navigate between school and life.

    We had dated 10 years ago from 2001-2004 and the timing wasnt right for us and spilt up but remained best friends and then In 2007 we decided to give it another go and this was it! We both knew we never wanted to be apart again!
