What are some reasons you like NEY? Why is this your "home" board?
For me, I really love going through the whole process. From waiting to engaged to planning to wedding to married. There is just something so wonderful about sharing this important part of other girls' lives.
I also love that relatively speaking this board has a smaller group of regs and I can keep up with the board. I try to be at least somewhat productive at work even when it's slow, and the pace of this board is just right for me.
And, we get a good mix of fun/silly posts and serious posts.
Girls here give good advice, and even if you don't always agree with a particular poster, I find that no one is really malicious, and you can expect that people that you don't always see eye to eye with will still be happy for you when good things happen, and will genuinely try to help you if you need advice or support.
So, what do you guys like about NEY? Favorite posts or stories? Favorite posters?
Re: Favorite things about NEY
Back in 2004/2005 when I first started coming on here, I hung out on the Snarky Bride page. When I came back in 2010, I didn't really like that board as much. Since I wasn't engaged, I decided to come over to the NEY. It had a really horrible reputation as being all crazies back in 2004, so I lurked for a long time before I started posting.
I realized the gals on this board were in all different stages of their lives, and that it wasn't a bunch of 18 year olds looking for their pretty, pretty princess day.
I've been trying to decide if I should back off this board and start looking for a new board, now that I am engaged. I have a tendency to want to be a pw about all wedding stuff. I think I need to start a blog or a website or something, to get that out of my system. But, I'm not very good with technology, and I don't know how to do that.
So, I just love that everyone on here is in different life stages, I enjoy the geekiness levels, and I also enjoy the occassional random crazy that comes around and asks some wacky question.

Tale as Old as Time (Updated 11/26)
I LOVE the mix of funny and serious posts. I feel like we're all a big family, disfunctional as it can be at times. I really have valued sharing the highs and lows of my life over the past 8 months or so with you all.
ETA: I also like that the fact that I'm 22 (23 in two days...squee!) isn't a big deal around here. You all respect what I say and the advice I give (even if I am blunt as a spoon in my delivery) and my age isn't a huge deal. I like that I'm not discriminated against because of my relative youth.
Also, as Desert said, it's a slightly smaller group than some boards, so it's easier to remember who's who.

Life is good today.
[QUOTE]Loves2shop, that's so funny about the age thing because I feel slightly older than most people on the boards (I turned 29 at the end of January). For a while I didn't join because I didn't want to be that "omg! Old lady who isn't even enaged yet, how sad!" girl. I'm just taking my time. But, I still feel a tad old on this board:) it helps that SO is 27. I'm robbing the cradle! Obviously a joke since 18 months a cradle robber doesn't make.

I think a lot of it depends on where you're from too. In Boston, it's rare for someone my age to get engaged. I've fielded a few comments about how I'm too young.
Oh well...

I agree! I am 30 and I feel so old! But honestly, when I read other people's posts (Hahaha... That just made me start singing the song OPP... OK, that shows my age), I don't think "Oh, that person is only 20 or 21" I don't know most people's ages, so I guess I don't even think about age on here.
I'm a very social person IRL and I like meeting new people. This board is such a diverse mix of people, and that's why I like it. Everyone has a lot of good advice and there are posters whose humor always makes my day. I also like that common sense is fairly prevalent here, and bad ideas are not encouraged.
I also lurk around students and the NM board.
And what Desert said.

Murried Bio
Also, I've basically always liked the posters on here. I think what really drew me in were the dynamic of the regs when I was lurking.
I'm still here because I consider a few ladies to be good friends, and there are some that I want to keep in touch with and know what's going on in their lives and just kill some time chatting when I can't stand to do homework anymore. lol
I feel like I went through a big, important time in my life while here- getting and giving advice, venting frustrations, laughing, crying, what-have-you. I may occasionally disappear for a while because I get tired of drama or I get busy IRL or whatever... but I think I'll keep coming back because I eventually miss you guys. I wonder "where are they now?"
And I want to help girls who might be heading into the same situations I've experienced. I think I've had some unique stuff and some normal stuff, and I don't mind sharing that.

</div><div>Ha, as a 35 year old, I must be the great great grandmother! :) </div><div>
</div><div>The reason I love this board is because you all talked me down off a ledge. I was so into pre-planning (but not calling it that to myself because that would be BSC), but so many of you had sane, thoughtful advice, and I'm a much happier person now for it. I'm still a bit impatient, but whenever I need a kick in the pants, I know you all will set me straight!</div>
Still here and still fabulous!
