I know, it is too bad you basically have to go through a breeder. My sister is an animal control officer and she thinks it is okay as long as I go through a reputable breeder. I also am friends with folks that run a rescue (and I volunteer there). But the hypo-allergenic component is really important to us.
I know that my daughter seeing her father is the best thing for her. But I am really waiting for him to mess up this visitation schedule so I can tell his attorney "I told you so."

Not sure about flammable, but I've definitely had people be judgy about it: I refuse to leave the house without makeup. I had really bad acne until one derm FINALLY put me on the pill, so I needed to wear a fair bit, and now I feel really naked without it.
I'm with Alix on wanting to adopt. I'm not even remotely in shape, but am working on it in time for my Cancun trip next June. If I do manage to get myself into bikini shape (which I haven't been in since...well, since ever) I really don't want to get pregnant and gain the weight back. Also, I have no interest in the backaches, or morning sickness, or wierd cravings, or stretch marks, or swollen boobies, or any of that. So if we ever DO have a baby, I REALLY want to adopt. I am wholly aware that makes me incredibly shallow and vain. But there it is.
If I wanted to hear the pitter-patter of little feet, I'd put shoes on the cat.
I have a mutt (husky/lad/sheppard) and no children. I refuse to buy a shelter dog for fear (rational or not) that shelter dogs are unstable. I would however buy a puppy from a shelter, unless I didn't plan on having children than I would do a shelter dog. Did any of that make sense?

Daff - I've done Botox a few times. I started out with just my forehead to see how I liked it and how it worked and everything. I love. I have to go in the next few weeks - doing my forehead, the 11s in between my eyebrows and a little around the outer edges of my eyes.

I joke around with FI all the time saying when I turn 40, I'm getting botox because by then, it will be as routine as getting your nails done.
Just like Daff, seeing wrinkles form makes me a sad panda, but I will just stick to my creams.
I would feel like such a hypocrite if I got botox because I am always preaching to FI about eating natural food and trying to use natural products. Plus, I still feel like botox is pretty new on the market, and I'm such a paranoid freak, I would worry in 20 years that they will say it causes cancer (Just like nobody thought anything was wrong with smoking or even tanning beds when they first came out).

ha - I rarely leave the house WITH makeup on! It's not like I've got good skin or anything, I just work in an office and rarely see people other than my boss and the kids I babysit - I just dont understand the point of using it every day if no one I see cares!
I work with my local shelter and I can definitely say that 90% of the dogs that come through our doors do not have issues. They are usually somewhat housebroken and gentle. Please don't label all shelter dogs as unstable. It's that stereotype that prevents people from adoption and they go to pet stores or breeders. I also do not believe or support killing shelter dogs because the HSUS and ASPCA are too effin lazy to put in effort, money & marketing to communities for dog adoptions. It is possible to be a No Kill shelter and have dogs living in clean, sanitary conditions. I will also never donate another dime to the HSUS or ASPCA because they believe in killing shelter animals (same thing with PETA). How can you claim to be a rescue group that wants to save animals when you kill more animals in your shelters than adopt out? Makes ZERO sense.
I confess that I'm deathly afraid of needles and all of this talk about Botox and hearing needles going into your face is about to send me into a panic attack, lol.

FI and I both agreed we can't foster because we will want to keep all the dogs. But I still don't want the risk of a shelter dog injuring either myself or my children.
They actually use Botox for quite a few other medical procedures. I know it is used off-label for migraine treatement and we've used it in surgery for some procedures and in the GI lab.
I don't know the chemical details, but the stuff they inject is a toxin made by the bacteria that causes botulism. So yes, it's technically naturally occuring, but in its naturally-occurring form it'll kill you.

ha - I rarely leave the house WITH makeup on! It's not like I've got good skin or anything, I just work in an office and rarely see people other than my boss and the kids I babysit - I just dont understand the point of using it every day if no one I see cares!
In Response to Re: Flammable Confessions : I understand this because I have fostered rescue dogs that would be really bad with children and have some serious issues. BUT I have also fostered dogs that are great with children and don't have any poor behaviors. Fostering would be a great way to find a dog that fits your family.

FI and I both agreed we can't foster because we will want to keep all the dogs. But I still don't want the risk of a shelter dog injuring either myself or my children.
This isn't a confession because I've talked about it before, but my house is currently in foreclosure. I expect to be judged for it, but it still irks me -- especially in light of recent comments on SB about how it isn't "fair" that some people get bail outs from their parents. I'm sorry, the next time my homebuilder decides to flaunt the building code and then file for bankruptcy, leaving me with a worthless hunk of concrete, I'll be sure to suffer appropriately so the cosmic fairness scale remain in balance. /sarcasm This is a confession: I actually cried over my missing veil. And then I cried some more when FI insisted on replacing it for me, when I said it wasn't worth the hassle or expense.

I was juding in that thread, but you know I wouldn't judge your situation. I was juding the whole, "I got into a lot of CC debt and couldn't qualify for a house on my own so my parents bought me one" thing. Yeah, that's kind of the consequence for running up CC debt. Lots of people with bad credit would like to buy a house.
In your situation? Yeah, holy crap. That's certainly not your fault at all.
In Response to Re: Flammable Confessions : Thank god it's not just me. I get the serious side-eye from many people when they ask why I'd not want to have my own kids and my answer is "I like my body as it is now and I dislike pretty much everything about pregnancy."
Posted by alixzafiris
I don't side-eye this at all, even from someone who really wants to have my own kids. Deciding to have kids is a very personal decision, and it drives me BSC when people try to push their own ideas and values onto someone else. It's no one's business but your own.
I have a flammable confession... I'm watching Mamma Mia. I know every word and every song. I love ABBA. :: hides ::

<3<3<3!!! Come out from hiding Alix! I saw "Mamma Mia" in my peripheral, so I read the first sentence of your post as, "I have a flammable confession DOT DOT DOT" <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-embarassed.gif" border="0" alt="Embarassed" title="Embarassed" />
