Is it just me, or is this really weird?

A girl on Customs and Traditions said their 'sentimental' wedding date is the anniversary of the first time they had sex...

Something about that just strikes me as really, really wierd.  Do they tell everyone that's why they picked that date?  Are they going to tell their kids that's why they picked their date?  I dunno, just an odd sentimental occasion to plan your wedding around....

    Weird, fo sho. I don't really know the *exact* date we first did it, but even if I did, I wouldn't plan a wedding around it.

    Maybe I'm just not "the type" but I don't keep track of things like that. The only date I know regarding our relationship is the date we became "official." But I couldn't tell you when we first kissed, first went on a date, first had sex....just not that important to me I guess..

    Well if you wait for marriage for sex, your wedding date IS the anniversary of your first time.  ;-)

    But yeah, that is kinda weird.

    I had to go read that post, and that is just weird.

    Especially with how she starts off saying how cute it was to get married on parents'/grandparents' anniversary. And she doesn't even say sex, she says she picked it because they sexually "hooked up". That's way too weird.

    I remember reading that last night and I thought it was super weird. IDK it doesn't really strike me as sentimental or romantic just weird.

    I guess i'm weird too lol.  I thought her idea was cute, we considered doing this but didn't want a christmas wedding.  As I said on that board: I shared all of my sexual firsts (except first kiss) with my FI and we celebrate the anniversary of each every year.  I can understand why some people might think its strange but its just something we have always done.

    Yeah... That's weird. I could find out when those firsts happened (I kept journals of everything about my life until my sophomore year of college), but I could not tell you the dates off the top of my head.

    Yea it is a little odd. We are getting on our anniversary so it is sentimental but I will not Embarassed when I tell people.

    I don't think it's weird to remember when it happened (even the date- I can remember dates really well) but I would find it odd to choose a wedding date solely for that reason.

    Actually, FI is the one who usually remembers (Imagine that) it. and he mentions it. I know the month, I think it's the 14th, but he always knows.

    It took my H three years to get my birthday right.

    I would be an unhappy woman if I worried about all our "anniversaries" of various things.

    I guess it's a good thing that my philosophy is that every day I spend with my H is a special day. I don't need any kind of occasion or anniversary to appreciate him or be thankful to have him as my husband.

    And yes, you may now commence "awwww"ing or throwing up, as you prefer. :P

    I remember when I realized that people had different definitions of "hooked up."  That was interesting.

    I was in college.  A senior used the term and clearly meant sex.  I was a freshman and looked at my freshman friends and said "what do we mean when we say hooked up?"  We meant making out.  Laughing
