I am currently praising the fact that I either sleep lightly or set a 2nd alarm in my paranoia to sleep in for my new job, because the power surged at about quarter to 7 wiping out my main alarm and since we have an alarm system it squaks when the power goes out so I heard it. BUT Since I already had another alarm set I didnt have to fiddle with anything I just went back to sleep.

OH, and the dress i ordered online on SUNDAY should be arriving sometime today!
  • Good Morning

BIL arrives this afternoon all the way form OZ!  We are so excited.  He is 49 and this is the first time he has ever left Australia.  He'll be here wandering around Europe for about a month.

I also get to pick my e-ring up from the jewellers.  As all have told me, the setting was fragile and one of the tiny diamonds fell out in Florence. :-(  So we weren't too suprised, just kinda bummed.

Still have much cleaning to do...

  • LVB, they used t get me to try that with my cats.  HA.  They ended up having to extract the urine with a needle....

  • Good Morning.  I hope everyone is doing well today.  It's chilly here, I even pulled out a sweater I had already packed up for the summer.  :(

Alexia - is your boss back to normal?  I sure hope so.

Amrs - YAY for brother visits.  That's exciting.

LTB - I hope your cat is alright

Nebb - YAY for a new dress.  How's the job so far?

Stack, THANK YOU for asking.  He came by my office to ask me about a few documents and had me manipulate them and make changes and was pleased with my knowledge and quick turn around.  I still want out.

I made another call to a person I used to dogsit for about nannying and she said she'd actually make some calls for me.  Some of her nieces and nephews are a little older than I am and have one or two infants/toddlers and she thinks I'd be a great fit for their families.  We'll see what happens.
  • Nebb - Good for your internal clock and your backup!  Now that I think about it, we don't have a backup...

ltb - I'm glad nothing with the kitty is super serious that require immediate action.  I hope they figure it out soon.  I had to collect a urine sample from my Boxer once, she was less than pleased when a plastic pan slid under her mid pee.

aMrs - YAY for getting your ring back.  I hope they were able to repair it to avoid this in the future.  I hope your visit with BIL goes well!
  • Happy Tuesday! I got notification from the lawyer yesterday that the lawsuit has been dropped. Phew! That is a load off my mind.
  • I can understand that.  At least you're actively looking for something else, that always helps make the situation a little more bearable.  Have you thought about looking up nanny agencies and having them place you in a home?  I know when I stopped being a nanny they actually hired my replacement through an agency.  I think it's sort of like a dating website type thing where they can place you in a family that will be a good fit for everyone involved.
  • Alexia, probably not.  The setting is over 100 years old and it would cost more to re-build it than the ring is worth.  I don't wear it everyday.  In fact I barely wear it at all.

Speaking of diamonds...has anyone else seen the news blurb that DeBeers is going to start  halting diamond production?  CNN has been running it on the ticker for the past three days!

Yes!  I've had a few friends and someone on here recommend a few sites for me.  I'd like to exhaust my personal contacts first.  It's as much of a risk for me as it is for the person that is hiring, if that makes sense.

Job is going great, im having a hard time becoming accustomed to how laid back they are. I think it will take a bit of getting used to, but its a really great place. My boss and the guy who are training me were talking about me on friday (infront of me) about how self sufficient I am and that I must be hiding something because theyve never hired anyone whos picked up on their systems that quickly.
  • Yea Nebb!

Isn't it a wonderful feeling having it acknowledged that yes, you do in fact have a brain.  And can use it too!

I really want to get it in writing, so I can go back to an old employer who always talked down to me about how slow I was and what crappy work I did and shout SUCK  ON THAT in their face.
  • Nebb, that is so awesome!  Good for you!!! I hope all the great work things continue!
  • Morning all!  I'm not a morning person, but I've got a second interview with the job I want, badly.  Cross your fingers for me!

    Yay for getting props Nebb!

  • Morning...  ugh.

Yay for everyone that has good stuff going on.  I'm too sleepy to say any more than that.  Taryn is going through her "4 month wakeful" period, where she will not sleep, at all.  Starting on Friday, she's been up every hour or two - not hungry or anything, just awake.  Awesome DH stayed up all night last night with her, so I could get some sleep, but I'm still wiped.

  • Morning ladies!!

Ditto Tide---Yay for everyone that has things going on! And boo for an awake Taryn, Tide...one of these days, you'll be able to sleep like normal.

I go back to work at the golf course tonight, bartending. I really need the money, but I'm actually not sure if I can do it...I have been running on zero energy for months now.

  • Haha, Rach...  someday.  Basically, she's at the point where she's noticing everything now, gets distracted easily, and doesn't want to miss out on anything.  This is a typical feeding:

Nom, nom, nom... oh look, the kitty!  Nom, nom... Oooh, daddy's home!  Nom...  Hi Mommy, I love you!  Nom, Nom, Nom...  hey, what's on TV?!  Nom...  I hear the dog barking!

So she doesn't eat well during the day, which makes it harder for her to STTN.  And now she only wants to sleep with us in the bed, not in the crib.

Yeah, and I rolled my eyes. Diamonds don't disappear, they just want to continue to make money on NEW diamonds.  I think I've heard they have upwards of a 20 year supply stored in their vaults.  Uncut, just hanging out.

I'm starting to have mild panic attacks about the move.  Starting over, over again! haha

  • Morning everyone!  I'm tired.  I went to bed early last night, fell asleep for about half an hour, then FI and the dog came to bed, woke me up, and wanted to talk.  Then when he wanted to go to sleep, I was wide awake because I'd just had a half hour nap.  Ugh.

  • Good Morning, Lovelies.  I am looking forward to a day of classes where I've got everything done beforehand.  I just need to read 400 pages between now and next Monday.  That's not unreasonable.  Right?

  • Morning all! I'm quite proud of myself for being on the ball today. I got an email last night around ten that my normal Wednesday meeting will actually be today, so I had to run around this morning and get everything in order. I managed it, though! And with 45 minutes to spare!

Tide- so how long does this phase usually last with babies? And in a totally unrelated matter, I've been thinking that you and I need to set a date to go check out the reserve up in MD! Maybe that's not totally unrelated as you'll probably want to do that when you actually get some sleep, huh?

Nebb- I'm really happy you're enjoying your new job. And that they respect and applaud you there. It's nice to not only like what you do, but to know that you're appreciated for it. Good for you! You deserve it.
  • Morning! J is getting a little cabin fever and I am taking him out to run a couple errands toady. Then I'm getting ready for our big fundraising yard sale this weekend. Everything is pretty much in totes, but we gotta price it all out. Fun times. :/
  • Good Morning!

The weather is beautiful here today and we are taking the cool new girl out for lunch.  I'm also looking at apartments but it really stresses me out.  I always feel like people are trying to rip me off.  One apartment charges a one month's rent as a move in fee and does not take personal checks.  You must do money orders.  WTF.  This is stressful and it makes me sad.
