Clock and timing

So I had never heard about this tradition/superstition before... That brides shouldn't walk down the aisle until the hands are moving upwards on the clock (like at half past instead of on the hour).

Is anyone else following this? I'm not printing invitations for a few days and we have flexibility to change our time by 30 minutes.

I'm not hugely superstitious, but I love random traditions. Are you doing this?

(BTW I use digital clocks anyway

Ditto. To answer your question, no, I don't intend to follow this. Curious to know the origin of this superstition. Very interesting, indeed.

It is what I've always been told is correct for weddings and I've only been to a couple weddings in my entire life that did not start on the upward sheep of the clock hands. Most of the web sites I found about this tradition/superstition would indicate that it is English.

"The Hands of the Clock

An old wives’ tale insists that happiness and rising fortune comes to couples who marry as the hands of the clock sweep upward toward the hour. If you have the ill fortune to be married while the hands move downward, you will lose your happiness."

I've heard of it. Our ceremony is at 7:30, but we had planned on that before I heard about the whole clock thing.

If it's no big deal to shift your timeline by 30 minutes and you like the idea, then sure, move it. But you shouldn't feel obligated to do so, I know plenty of people who got married on the hour and are still happily married.

I have never heard of this either. My ceremony started at around 5:30, but that was just the time our venue said they start their night time ceremonies at, so not a lot of thought went into it.
