Why is it so hard to send back the freaking RSVP card.......geezzzzzzzzeeeeeee, I mean the freakin stamp is already on it. Its not a hard decision, its either yes or no.........

Either people just don't send them back, or don't know how to fill it out...................uuugggghhhhh!!!

[QUOTE]i cannot for one second believe that you have over a month until your wedding, and your RSVP date already passed.

My RSVP date was June 1st. A month is not that uncommon.

But really - people still have time to send you their rsvps. If it makes you feel better my own brothers haven't sent theirs back or returned my phone calls.

[QUOTE]maybe. but did you throw a tantrum if someone didn't send their card back on the exact RSVP date? i think there is a lot of time before the wedding, it's okay to not get the RSVPs back. it's a PITA, but it's not the end of the world.

Nope, I made it 5 weeks because I knew most of DH's family was socially inept when it came to RVSP cards. Pretty sure about half weren't in by then.

I asked for the RSVPs in one month, but didn't have to report to my caterer until a couple weeks after my set RSVP date. I did this on purpose because I knew we'd get late RSVPs.

i don't see how calling people for their rsvps is a big deal. you know these people, yes? and those you don't know, someone knows and they can call and deal with their foolishness.

What hmo said. I asked a few people who hadn't responded and asked MIL about her peeps. In the end, everyone who said they would be there, was there (minus one guy who got a flat tire on the way).

My MOH and Mother have volunteered to make some calls later this week. RSVP date is tomorrow. A month+ is not uncommon for an RSVP date. I have some leeway here for the catering, however there are other things that we need a count for sooner than that which is why we choose that date.

I was just voicing my frustration and getting it out, I thought that was what this board was for and support from other brides.

"support" does not always mean telling you that you are right.

and if everyone else is doing your work for you, why are you complaining? what else do you need the count for -- favors and chair covers?

Devoted Harmony. Vent on. You have to watch yourself on these boards sometimes. There are people who have nothing better to do then to jump on you and be jerks. ( A month is not uncommon! I asked for mine back a month and a half in advance because I needed the numbers! Not only for the venue, but for how many tables I would need, chair covers, and most importantly my guest favors. My parents were gracious enough to order wine glasses for my FH and I which take a while to come in.
And yes I was a tad peeved as well. Everything is done for them and I had so many people that just didn't respond. Those that didn't respond I called, (some more then 3 times) and if they didn't call back I just assumed they weren't coming. If they don't have the time to put a simple check mark on a card and toss it in the mail I really don't want them there.

I think waiting for the response cards is kinda fun. They are sent to my mom's place and she'll give me an update every once in a while. I know she cannot STAND waiting. She has the same viewpoint...how hard is it to send back?? Lol. Even the people who you KNOW are coming...like my FI's parents, sister, my brother, etc.

Getting a response back 5 weeks before the wedding seems a little crazy-- unless your ceremony/reception requires that much notice?? Many brides don't even send their invites out for 4-5 weeks before hand. My guests are *supposed* to have theirs in in 10 days...which is 3 weeks before the wedding.

We're going to call people we havent heard from a week after the response date. And then we're gonna do the seating arrangement from that. If we haven't heard back from people by THEN, well...when we DO hear from them, guess who'll be in the back? Aw, snap.

    YAAAY!
