While we're being honest...

Do you registry stalk? It seems pretty common on my local but abhorred around here, so I'm curious if people really walk the walk or just talk the talk ;)

Re: While we're being honest...

  • I didn't register.
If I had, I probably wouldn't have stalked. I like to be surprised.
    image
  • we stalked like mad people. I hate surprises.
  • It's abhorred here?  I never knew that.  I thought everyone did it.  I did it and never felt bad about it.  I mean, you picked the items, you already know what's there.  It's still a surprise when you open it and see who it's from.

  • I said no because my invites haven't gone out yet. My shower isn't until September and I haven't even given the registry cards to my MOH.

But I won't say that I won't ever look at it before the shower though. I am just sure that many people will shop the morning of, so I probably won't stress myself out about it.
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image
  • Yup.  I did.  DH was worse, though.  He was obsessed with registry stalking.

  • Honestly, all this honesty is making me want to punch someone.  Laughing

  • We registered a couple months ago, and I'm almost positive nothing has been bought. I mean, we're still pretty far out from the wedding and I can't imagine that people have bought wedding gifts this early. If my guests are anything like me, they buy a gift the day of :/

  • Dani, that's the sense I've gotten around here, although I could be mistaken. I remember a post a few days ago where the OP was worried because her shower was in a week and only a few items had been bought. There was a whole chorus of "that's what you get for stalking, you idiot" or "stop registry stalking and being greedy."
  • I registry stalked a lot before my shower, but after that, I just didn't have enough time to registry stalk before the wedding.  I was too busy with other stuff.

  • Yep, I will.  I don't know if anyone will buy off it though, I mostly just set it up so I can get the completion discount later.

I looked twice so I didn't consider that stalking. Once after my shower because most of the items were gone so I had to see if it was worth adding more (I did not). And then a week before the wedding, again, just to make sure it wasn't completely empty because both registries were very small.

  • Nah, there was nothing on our registries that we wanted that badly.  Except for the Litter Robot, which was the only thing we didn't get!!!

Didn't you confess that you already wanted to punch someone?  So it's not us!  :)

  • I looked at it the week before the shower and the week before the wedding. Otherwise, I didn't really stalk it because I knew my people wouldn't be buying until the last minute, so there wouldn't have been any change from shower to wedding.

We had a really small registry.
I didn't stalk it, but mostly because I didn't care about what people bought from it. I only did one in the first place because my mom was annoying the crap out of me.

  • I do check our Anthropologie one pretty frequently, partially because they discontinue stuff all.the.time, but also because the thing I want the most is on there (gorgeous quilt, the only one that FI and I both liked after looking at dozens).

  • True story:

I'm going back and forth with FH's nephew on Fb. (He says that all our "love" on FB makes him sick) He told me to leave him alone or he will get us a toaster for a wedding gift. I told him to go for it! We have one on our registry!!!

I swear I could never make this up! Wink

  • Misscourtney:  sorry for the threadjack, but are you even capable of taking a bad picture?  You seem to have an endless supply of absolutely stunning photos - your smile is megawatt gorgeous.
  • Registry stalking is depressing. I'm not having a shower and the only thing purchased off either registry is the panini press my mom bought for my birthday 2 months ago.

  • I do it, and I noticed that almost everything has been bought off all our registries, and our wedding is in 12 days.
  • So, posts like this remind me to go check my registry. I did and three of my place settings were bought! Sweet! Those are the one thing I REALLY want off the registry. I suspect my friend who's getting married in August did it. She can't make it to our wedding and mentioned that she wants to give us our gift when we go to her wedding.

Oh Why!!! You are going to give me tears! Thank you so much. You really don't know how much that means to me especially because a few months ago you were so mean to me!! <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-cry.gif" border="0" alt="Cry" title="Cry" />

I, for very long, didn't think there was anything stunning about myself. I finally grew out of the ugly teenage years and here I am!! Smooches!

  • I've looked a couple of times, since it's small, to make sure we have enough stuff on there.

  • I originally wasn't planning on it, but then we got a notification from Williams-Sonoma that ALLLLL of the cookware we registered for had been discontinued, so we needed to go in and re-register.  The saleslady told us to keep an eye on our registries, because things get discontinued a lot.  I check on them when I think about it.
