2012 resolutions

what are your resolutions for 2012, you know considering the world is ending later in the year and all ;)

i promised adam i wouldnt bug him to call his parents (he hates calling them) and my other is to just do things rather than make excuses not to (like the 2 concerts were going to). also, im hell bent on finally making a disaster stockpile and i dont care what anyone says.

Re: 2012 resolutions

• To give myself a fuucking break on the body image front.
I've saved up for the last few months to go and buy cute clothes for my size instead of berating myself when I can't fit into the ones that I used to.
• I have some weight, health, and $ goals but I think I'm going to concentrate mostly on my husband since mine are all carry-over from this year.

He has expressed to me that in 2012 he's going to finally be ready for some weight loss and getting in shape so I need to be open to his silent need for help since he rarely admits that he needs any unless asked point blank.  I want him to be alive and healthy for a very long time.
• My resolution is that 2012 will not be the complete clusterfuck that 2011 has been.

I don't think I have much control over it, though.

• I always make the same resolutions (eat better, read my Bible, find a church) so this year I'm going to make a resolution to keep my resolutions.

Lame, I know.

• Dh is buying me either a fitbit or a Fit Link for Christmas. He is comparison shopping right now. I will stop eating sugar and aspartame again. I've done it before and I'll do it again. And no more fast food. Even if it takes forever for them to make, no more breakfast tacos because those count as fast food.

Oh, and we need to save more. That I can do without DH noticing since I take care of the money

• So many of the things I complain about are within my control to change.  So, not necessarily a NY resolution but just a 'get back to being awesome' realization.

Accept what I can't change, and change what I can.

Oh, yeah, this. "I'll quit next week."
• *Get in shape.  I actually have a 'milestone' weight that I want to hit before the new year. I'm only 1.5 pounds away as of today, so I just need to make it through Christmas! ha  But then I want to get in shape. I don't want to set a goal weight, because I'll be too obsessed wtih the number.  I just want to be healthier.... because I want to have babies. ;)

*Pay off debt.  As it stands, we're hoping to get about $10k of CCs and $25k of student loans paid off, which will be about half our debt. Considering we don't make a whole lot, I'm quite excited to make this work.

*Ditch caffeine (again) and alcohol (maybe. Beer for sure.)
• - Run my half marathon in under 2hrs 30mins (late February)

- Take at least one real vacation (i.e. to a foreign country, or a cruise, etc.)

- Get promoted at work

- Do more yoga (to incorporate more peace into my life so that I can manage my stress levels)

- Pay off at least one credit card
I actually try not to make too many because I sometimes feel pressured to be "perfect" since it's "a new year".  I normally just try to put my best foot forward, no matter what time of year.
Posted by edielaura
This is the mindset I would like to have. Instead, I sit around and keep up my bad habits because New Years is coming. It's like midnight is going to zap me and I'm going to be awesome again. Which I am, for about a week. So this is something I'm working on.
• 1) Put extra money into paying off student loans (we already have a $ figure that goes in automatically).
2) Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
3) Stop finding excuses to avoid exercising.

• I want to start doubling my student loan payment at some point during the year.

I would like to start strength training regularly.  I just started last week so hopefully I can keep it up.

I would also like to get a better grip on the bebe forecast and make a real plan.

I think my main resolution will be to not fuuck up my child too badly in his first 8 months.

That, and complete NROL4W again.  Mama's gonna need some muscles.

• -Find a job, preferably one doing something I love.
-Give myself a bit of a break on the "make ALL our food from scratch, limit our preservatives, no high fructose corn syrup" insanity. I am WAY too hard on myself and there is really no need to make every single bread, sauce, snack that we consume. I resolve to lighten up.
• -After the thread below, boosting my savings account.

-Releasing at least 1 more book.

-Fully securing the house.

-Being better about keeping up with the housecleaning.

-Learning new recipes and actually cooking them.

-Looking better, soI feel better about myself
• this isnt so much a resolution but a goal - with the basement reno theres going to be a designated gym space in the basement and i want to "spare no expense" outfitting it in a way that i will actually benefit from. i already have weights, i just need to get accessories, bench, ball, mirrors and racks.i will do it and not just talk about it.

<div>This too! I need to get back to it. Maybe when Sparky sleeps again I can start. I have the Jillian Michaels kettlebell workout on our TiVo and I did it once before he got sick this last time. It was intense, but I feel like the technique is not quite right and the potential for injury of both myself and my TV (should I lose my grip) is just too high. But its something. It will have to do until I can get to the gym again. </div>

I've heard baaaaad things about that video, so be careful.  Apparently she doesn't know her ass from proper kettlebell form.

I'm really hoping that the fact that my gym is in my basement will make working out with a baby possible.

Yeah, I know some about technique because we used them in bootcamp with certified people, so I don't follow her exactly. <div>
</div><div>Having a gym in the basement will be key. Baby Raynes will probably either just sleep or watch you work out. SParky woke up once when i was doing a video so I just let him sit there and watch. He thought it was hilarious. He was probably also happy I was letting him watch TV (a big no no in our house, no matter how hard he tries). </div>

I'm using Hal Higdon's Novice Half Marathon Training Program, and it's awesome. I'm only on Week 2 and I can already feel my stamina/lung capacity getting better than when I first started.

I have the RunKeeper app and try to post my progress on FB as a way to keep me accountable, since a lot of the gals running the race with me in Feb are on my friends list. It's awesome having running buddies, no matter how far away they are. I'm proud of you for setting this goal. :)

• Thanks :)

As of now I have no real training plan, lol.  I didn't train too much for the 10k I ran a year and a half ago.  I just worked out a lot.  The day I ran the 10k was the first time I'd ever ran that far.

I'm pretty sure that's not the strategy I should take with 13.1 miles.
