    Congrats on the engagement. Mine is set for 12/13/14 but there is no one on my Dec 2014 board yet, so I'm just checking the other 2014 boards to see who's here.

    I just got engaged Feb 11, 2012 I am also looking to get married late October 2014. Have any of you started planning? I have no idea where or when to start!!

    hi! congrats on your engagement!

    the first thing my FI and i did was set a budget. after that, you can start envisioning your wedding.. shopping around with venues and the like.

    one thing my FI and i decided was not to start planning right away. we just enjoyed being engaged for several months! :-)

    I had checked this board soon after getting engaged but there was no one here, so happy to see other 2014 brides around. Mine is set for 10/31/14

    I'm so happy to see other people on this board!  I got engaged in early April but we are waiting until I graduate from grad school to get married, so October 11 2014 is our tentitive date.  People keep saying that we're crazy and asking why if we're waiting so long we had to get engaged now, but it just felt like the right time for us!

    I was just about to come on this board and ask if people think its strage to wait so long to get married but lo and behold, I have found several people with the same mindset! :)

    My Fiance and I have only been engaged for about 2 weeks (May 18th!) but we've been together for 5 years and have had our ideal wedding date in mind for a long time- 10/12/14!  We've both just graduated college, so we are waiting because 1. Money!! His parents are not able to help, and my parents will soon be paying for my sister's 45k/year school... So, I need to find a job! and 2. We want to find a place to live together before planning the wedding, we both still live at home.  We need the time to settle down and save.  

    I am itching to start  officially planning the wedding!!  My only real concern with waiting is that since everyone we know is SUPEREXCITED for us to get married I hope they are still excited after waiting for 2 and a half years..... Does anyone else have that fear? lol.

    We got engaged on Christmas of 2010 and we're planning an October 18, 2014 wedding. It's our ten year anniversary and we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate! I'm glad other girls are waiting as long as I am to get married! Good luck on your planning!

    I'm itching to plan too! Don't worry about people being excited. Once the wedding gets closer and all the hype starts again, people will get excited. :)

    Congrats to all of you ladies!!! We got engaged in December 2011 and our wedding is set for 10/31/14. People asked why are we waiting so long since we have been together for over 5 years now. One I had a baby 9 months ago and I want our son to come out in our wedding. Two we set a budget and we barely started to plan our wedding. We booked our venue already because most places will get booked up to two years in advance. We are also are giving ourselves plenty of time to set aside money to pay our wedding off. By the time we get married we won't stress about how are we going to pay for the major expenses because it will be paid for already. Good Luck to you all!!!!

    Our date is October 19, 2014.  We want to give ourselves time to plan every detail perfectly.  We also want to save up some money!

    My date is October 18, 2014 too. I've been with my fianc for 7 years now, high school sweethearts. We started dating on this date, got engaged on this date, and will marry on this date : congrats to all engaged!

     aww your so lucky i originalyl wanted that date but where our church is and being in Missouri and never knowing how the weather would be we opted for October 4 2014 but congrats thats so exciting.

    We just got engaged in Dec 2012 and we've set a date for Oct 2016 :/  It's so far away but it doesn't sound like either of our families will be able to pay for anything so we need to save money.  That being said, we've already started planning :)  It's your wedding, do what you want!

    Any thoughts as to it being too soon to shop for dresses?  My fiance and I are getting married October 18, 2014 and I couldn't be more excited!  We got engaged December 16, 2012 and I couldn't help but start planning!  I'm enjoying just being engaged, but I do like to have things squared away and wasn't sure how soon was "too soon."  Suggestions?
