  What we did was we were cutting the regular cake and everyone was crowded around in a semi circle taking photos and then suddenly the group parted and my planer and the caterer were wheeling in the grooms cake. Mine was a total surprise to DH (I have the funniest pics of his face when he first saw it!!) We did then do a second cake cutting (feeding each other and whatnto) though I felt that was unnecessary but we did get some great pictures of it and it was fun to do while everyone was watching.
  
  If its going to be on display the entire evening then you can do a second cutting or just take photos with both cakes when the time to cut the cake happens.

  We are just going to have it on display next  to the wedding cake and cut both. He doesn't know about it so after we do our first dance we will walk over and look at both cakes.

  i decided to present mine at rehearsal dinner... its a surprise to FI and since there is so much dessert at the reception already i figured why not eat cake 2 nights in a row
