Workout Clothes

What is your favorite brand of athletic clothing?  I'm learning that I need to buy more.  I love lululemon but can't afford to buy a ton from there, so I was thinking maybe a couple things from there and maybe a couple from somewhere cheaper if anyone has good recommendations.

Re: Workout Clothes

  • I'm all about whatever's on sale at Target or Kohl's. :-P

Most of my workout clothes come from Old Navy (tanks and walking crops) but I just got my first lulu sweater and I'm hooked.  I tried on a pair of pants and wow I want them.  Now.

  • I shop the outlet (when I have a chance) for Nike, Adidas, New Balance, etc) or the clearance rack at Academy. I have also found stuff at TJ Max, Ross, and Marshalls in those brands. I have a few dry fit shirts and shorts (I try to run as much as possible with working out and just wear the same for both). Sports bra...I buy the high impact bras (for running and such) - which can be pretty pricy but you should protect your goodies. I dound that Champion for the bras can be the cheapest ...but I do have Hanes for low impact activities (yoga, pilates). I also have lower priced stuff like BCG - which they sell at Academy for just weights days (days that I don't sweat as much). For dry fit stuff, I prefer Nike. I have BCG dry fit and Nike but I can tell the difference as far as absorbency. I am pretty thrifty when it comes to workout clothing. I started off with 3 pairs of shorts, 4 bras...but soon added on if I find a deal. I run a few races throughout the years and uses the shirts from the races as my resistent day shirts. Although not absorbent - I already have them and no since of them going to waste.

  • I really like Old Navy and Target.  They always have sales and really good quality IMO.

  • Nike - I have a large collection of their running shorts and fit-dry shirts.  Sports Authority frequently has coupons and their clearance rack is full of good deals as well.

  • Ally- I'm also from the Detroit area and LOVE Lululemon but agree that the prices are ridiculous to buy everything there. Lucy (downtown Birmingham, or www.lucy.com) is a great place for workout clothes, they usually have good sales. Other than that, Target and Marshalls are my stores!
  • I'm an underarmour devotee.  Pretty much everything I own is UA.  And they have outlet stores, which is good.

  • Thanks for all of the input! I definitely have some shopping to do this weekend!

Hmm. I have never heard of lululemon.  Cute, but too pricey for me.

Honestly, since I do 90% of my exercising in my apartment, I don't spend much on my workout clothing. I usually try to find some clearance yoga pants at like JC Penney or something, and throw on either an old t-shirt or a tight-fitting tank, depending on the sort of exercise.

I do need a new sports bra though.  That's one thing I'm SUPER picky about and am willing to spend extra on.  Don't like these things bouncing around like they're gonna pop someone's eye out.

  • I spend a fairly large amount of money on athletic clothing. I love Oiselle, and they just teamed up with Amazon so you don't even have to buy it from their website if you want. The shorts are pricey, but they've lasted for hundreds and hundreds of miles. If I weren't so busty, I'd try their sports bras too.
  • I cant believe I forgot about Athleta! This is probably my favorite brand of work out clothes. It's part of the Gap Old Navy Banana Republic brand.

Pardon the cliche, but I'm a maxxinista! I LOVE TJ Maxx, Marshals and Ross. I normally just wear a t-shirt and shorts/yoga pants when I work out, but they have super cheap yet good brands (UnderArmor, Reebok, Nike, etc.).

As a side note, I found Michael Kors jeans priced retail for $130 for only $20 at Marshals!

I'm a big fan of wearing designer and NOT paying full price :)
