Re: how many cupcakes to order???

  • For 42 guests, we ordered full size cupcakes through Retro (not that much price difference). We got 4 dozen (so 48). We had about 10 left over, but by about noon the next day they were gone.

Well we're going to be ordering about 72 regular cupcakes and we're going to have a small cake on top for FI, I, our daughter adn whoever else wants some from the top lol.

I think I saw someone on here get little boxes and guests could take one with them if they wanted.

  • Yup. Someone just has to meet them in the lobby. They won't come to your room.

  • Retro's full size cupcakes are 2.65 each and mini cupcakes are only 12 a dozen ...so 1 each. We did 96 mini cupcakes for 65 people and had about 30 leftover. We had an evening cocktail style reception with a full open bar so that may have been the reason there were so many leftover. We gave the leftovers to the bell desk staff at MB. I loved the cupcake tower look and it was nice that people didn't need plates and forks to enjoy the cake. They could just mingle.

Did you do multiple flavors or all the same? Did you have anything to 'cut' or did you skip that?  Thanks!
ETA:  I stopped being lazy and looked at your planing bio to see if I could find answers to my own questions :)  I saw you planned to do a small cake.  If you did do you mind sharing your total cost for 96 minis, small cake, delivery etc?

  • We did Retro also.. we ordered 48 full size cupcakes and a small cake for the top.. we had 22 people and had about 25 cupcakes left and the whole cake, minus the tiny slice we cut.
We ended up giving them to the maid service and they loved us for it ;)

  • When I contacted Retro for a quote about the cutting cake, I also asked how many mini cupcakes they recommended per person and they said two, which sound about right to me.  I know I could eat more than two minis but we'll have just finished the full dinner with dessert, not to mention the hors duerves before dinner, so I think thet would be plenty.  I'm conisdering getting little cupcake to go boxes just in case anyone wants any for a late night snack though. :)

Posted by FrankensteinsGirl[/QUOTE] We did five flavors. If you check my pinterest LV wedding Board link there is a picture of my cupcake tower. We did a 6 inch cake on top. We had them deliver and setup and pickup the tower after so there were small fees for that. There was a tower deposit that was refunded after. I think after all was said and done it was about 280 for everything. The delivery and setup was totally worth it. We didn't want the hassle of returning it to the shop. My 6 inch was extra though, I think it was double the normal price because I wanted the detailed design on it. HTH!

ETA:  I'm on a computer now, here are a few pics.
