Checks in lieu of attendence?

We just got a check from a couple in an RSVP who can't attend the wedding. I'm thinking the proper thing to do is send a thank you card now and cash it.

Should I send another thank you after the wedding? Our thank you cards post-wedding will have a picture from the wedding on the front, so I think it might be nice to send a followup thank you note?

Re: Checks in lieu of attendence?

  • Yes cash it now but set the money aside and get a thank you note out asap. As for the followup thank you, I do think it's unnecessary.

  • Definitly cash it so their books aren't off for 2 months, but make a note and don't spend the money until after.  I don't think another TY after the wedding is necessary, but if you really want to send the pic, then go for it.
