Dyeable Shoes

hey ladies,

My girls and I are all going to be wearing hot pink shoes (including the flower girl). They're all picking their own style, but I'd like them to be the same shade of pink. One of my BMs mentioned they could go to Payless to get different styles, then have them dyed there. I've had Payless heels before, and they were really uncomfortable. I'm wondering if there are any other places that you can get affordable (and comfortable) shoes dyed? I've seen some websites that do this, but it'd be nice if they could try them on.

TIA!

  • David's Bridal has dyeable shoes.

  • Payless can still work, it just depends on the shoe.  I can't wear their shoes because my feet are too narrow, but my kids can and they have a ton more styles than they used to.  I've had $400 shoes that hurt my feet so I wouldn't totally rule out Payless based on one pair of shoes.

  • Some bridal stores carry the Dyeable line so you can try them on before ordering.  I was just at a store last night that offered this.  I am in a wedding 2 weeks before my own, and the bride wants us all in hot pink shoes.  I heard the DB shoes have a tendency to "run" and stain your feet/toes.  We talked to the lady at the bridal store last night and she said she hasn't heard anyone complain about the Dyeables brand running, but that may have been because she wanted us to buy them.
  • Keep in mind that you can't just buy any shoes and have them dyed, they have to be a 'dyeable' shoe.  Payless does actually have a line of dyeable shoes, which I've heard decent reviews of.  Otherwise, there are tons of options online and many of them have reviews for specific shoes.

I'm not sure if Payless, or DB will dye shoes that were not purchased from them, but you should be able to find a good cobler in your area that can dye them.  When I looked for my shoes, it would have been around $30 to have them dyed, in addition to the cost of the shoe, which is a little steep, so if you are requiring that your bridesmaids go this route, YOU have to pay for it.

Also, ALL dyed shoes can have a tendancy for the color to run when it gets wet.  You can get a water sealer for them, but again...that's even more money that YOU should be paying for.
