I have a dress!!!

I just bought my dress today and I absolutely love it! I wasn't planning on buying a dress today, as it was my first time going shopping. I intended on trying things on, narrowing down what I like/didn't like, etc. However, I fell in love and decided to buy the dress! It has a drop waist, sweetheart neckline, lace-up back, and a small amount of bling near the neckline. It's simple, yet elegant and classic, plus I feel romantic and sexy at the same time. I absolutely love it!

I worry though, did I buy too soon? We're getting married March 2, so I know timeline wise, it's not too soon. I just hope I didn't jump on board too quickly, as it was the first place I went and I only tried on 12 or 13 dresses. My mom and MOH assured me that it was okay to fall in love quickly, I just don't want to regret finding one too soon later down the road. I'm getting married in a castle like setting (the Castle at Ashley Manor in Chandler, Arizona). Although a princess ball gown style would seem perfect for the setting, it isn't so much my taste. However, I do think it will be beautiful and fit right in with the elegant setting.

So, thoughts..is there such thing as too soon?

Re: I have a dress!!!

  • I just bought mine too and our wedding is 9/15/2012. :), but we are moving to another state early next year so i wouldnt have enough time to buy it. I dont think its too early :). Congrats! Trying on ALOT of dresses just confuses you as well. I only tried on MAYBE 10 total. I didnt want to get confused and make the decision harder.
  • The bridal shop I got it from doesn't have the picture of my dress online yet because it's brand new, but it's very similar to this one..only instead of the beading underneath the bust, it's in a diamond shape just under the dip in the sweetheart neckline. Also, rather than beading, my dress has crystals.

  • VERY pretty!
  • I tried on a total of 3 dresses all in my first appointment. The first one, an a-line was what I thought would look good- it didn't at all. The second, which ended up being beautiful was one that my consultant picked out! And the 3rd was just to try on one more style (an empire waisted ballgown type) before I went with the 2nd! The one I ended up getting had everything I would ever want for myself and looked great! I bought mine that weekend though because it happened to be a trunk show dress and I got 15% off.

  • the dress was the first thing I bought!  I got it in November of 2010 and I'm getting married February 2012.  I felt beautiful and like a true bride...when you know, you know.  btw your dress is really pretty.

  • I think it would still fit in with the castle/regal motif and it wasn't too early as long as you're not planning on changing sizes drastically.  I got my dress almost 20 months out because I stumbled across an unbelieveable deal at a sample sale on something that fit me and worked for my theme/setting.  It was such a good deal that I felt comfortable that if I found something else I could try to unload this one on ebay and wouldn't be out very much money, but I've kept comparing other dresses to this one so it turned out to be a winner.  Just start planning everything else around your dress and venue now that you don't have to worry about the dress :-)
Whoever said it was supposed to be happily ever after is a big fat liar.
  • that is a beautiful gown! congrats!
  • Thanks ladies for the support and reassurance, it truly is comforting to hear all your kind words. :) I know I love it, I just hope my fiance will as well and that it fits in with the castle ambiance. It's very elegant, romantic, and classy, which is exactly what I wanted!  I wish the princess ball gown was me, as it would be PERFECT for the castle, but it's just not my style..

As for jewelry, I have no idea. Since it is somewhat of a "simple" dress, I want to spice it up a little with the accessories, but I'm not sure how just yet. Suggestions? I tried on veils and tiaras with the dress and the veil didn't look great, so I think I'll end up going with a tiara.
