Church decorations?

Hi all, I'm starting to think about decorations for the church. I was thinking of doing something simple, like just bows for the pews, but I'm not sure how that will look.

Are any of you doing anything like that? How are you decorating the church in general?

We did very simple decorations in the church. We used faux hydrangeas on every other pew and my bouquet was placed on the altar - simple was just what I was looking for :)

I think the only thing we're doing is pew decorations.  Actually, the chapel we are using has chairs, not pews, but we're going to have little silver cones with tropical flowers/foliage coming out of them hanging off each aisle chair back on the front 4 rows.  We'll finalize the exact look when I have my sample appt in April.

Aisle runners can be pretty.  And some people have those large wooden initials hanging from the church door.

I think if the church you are using is beautiful, you don't really need to fuss it up with many decorations though.
Yay! Finally able to update my signature :)

I'm only doing flowers on the altar (which will then be moved to the reception for the escort card table or similar).  I think flowers or pew bows would look nice, I just couldn't justify the expense when we're having a short ceremony, so I put more of the floral budget towards the table arrangements at the reception.

I just did pew bows on every other pew and wreaths on the church doors ... Pics in Married Bio and Planning Bio ...

In my opinion it looked great ... simple, elegant and understated ...

we're having two altar arrangements on either side of the altar and my mother is making bows for the pews out of ribbon/tulle. We might buy some potted plants for the stairs too.

Check with your church on any restrictions before you get too far. I've heard of a lot not allowing aisle runners, and then sometimes there are rules about how you afix the pew bows, wreathes, etc.

In addition to PP comment about restrictions, check with your Church about altar flowers- our Church "suggests" that the flowers should be left as a donation.
We are going to do a runner, some pew flowers and 2 altar sprays.

We're having two flower arrangements on the alter and then pew bows, our home church is beautiful and I figure this will be more than enough.

We are just doing pew bows for my daughter's wedding.  It will be a short ceremony and the church is beautiful in itself.  It was actually the florists idea  of an area to cut costs so we went with her suggestion.
