What's the latest fashion in shoes?

I'm completely oblivious when it comes to "in style" clothes and fashion.  What are some of the latest fashions and styles when it comes to shoes (including flats, boots, heels, etc)?

Edit: This is for a gift for my younger sister who's very fashion forward.

Reese (or anyone else), do you own or have you tried on over the knee boots?  I am really curious about how comfortable they are and what it's like to sit down in them.   Would love to hear any reviews!

I just bought booties and actually really like them.  Today I am wearing them with a cute dress so they are actually exposed to people.  Before today I hid them under pants. They are super cute.  These are the ones I got.  http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=522825&CategoryID=25122#fn=BRAND%3DINC%20International%20Concepts%26sp%3D1%26spc%3D12

On the other hand I read a lot of fashion blogs and it seems that no one can really pull off the over the knee look.  Its a tough look to do.  I cant wear knee high boots anyway because my legs are too small so i am not even going to try the OTK boots.

Also in style are grey suede shoes.  And now pointed toes are not as in as they were.  I refuse to say they are out because I like my pointed toe shoes and continue to wear them.

Thanks ladies!!  I guess I'll go with a pair of booties, then.  My sister plays soccer so she has some pretty massive calves that make buying boots nearly impossible for her.

ffbride - Love those booties!  I actually bought a pair of grey ones that are very similar to yours a few years back and I wear them any chance I get.  I think I may have inadvertently been ahead of the style curve with that purchase, haha!  Normally I'm a good year and a half behind the curve.

I love my booties but I don't wear them as often as I should since I'm going thru a flats only period.

How old is your sister?  My fiance's lil sis is soo into those military boots that everyone seems to be wearing.  They look so cute on ther, I don't think i could pull them off.  Not really my style but it looks good on her.  Last week, we went to the mall looking for ones that could "flip" yea i didnt get that either until she showed me what she meant.

Oh yeah!  I've seen those around!  My sister's in college so she's more into the whole dressing up for the clubs and the weekends scene.

uppereast:  i havent tried them on yet...but i am definitely lusting for a pair of over the knee boots.
A LOT of my co-workers have them...and they all have openings in the back for when you have to bend your knees, sit down, etc.

Victoria... I love my OTK boots.  They definitely are not the most comfortable to sit down in, but they are suede and stretch a little.  I won't wear them if I'm going someone where I will primarily be sitting down.... I wouldn't wear them on a 3-hour car ride or something like that, but otherwise, I love them.
