[QUOTE]..I do love the pill for the regular periods (even better, the 4 times a year periods).  Bah, being a woman is a PITA sometimes.

People may think I'm nuts, but I'd never take any BC that wouldn't give me 12 periods a year. Periods are no fun, but I'd feel off if I didn't get it monthly.

  • Am I the only woman in the world that actually likes condoms?  Haha.

i think you might be.  I love the Depo shot
  • I mean, there are pros and cons to with and without, but frankly, I prefer to avoid the.....errrr....mess.
  • Haha, JK, I'm not even going to touch that!  I don't personally mind condoms, but FI does.  I don't want him to hate doing it.

GG- I did a lot of reading up on it before I started having the 4-a-year.  I thought it was weird, but gyno's are almost united in the opinion that it is totally safe.  As a matter of fact many say that if you're not TTC, you don't need to have ANY periods.  But, I think you should um.. 'cleanse the system' every once in a while at least.  I would feel uncomforable not having any periods ever.

  • Yeah, FI isn't a huge fan of condoms either, but to be honest, we're having more sex now that I'm not on the pill than when I was on it.  Like a lot more.  And I enjoy it more.  So he's willing to make that tradeoff.  Not to mention I'm a much nicer fiancee now :)  Some condoms are definitely better than others though.
  • Yeah, I know that if my sex drive increased, that would more than make up for using condoms for FI.

  • I can't tell anyone enough how much better I feel since I stopped b/c 3 months ago.  What a difference!

I was a raging lunatic when I think back on it now.  My doctor actually got sick of me coming in every 6 months or so to tell her I needed something different. So I just decided on my own to stop.

I  know the effects are different for everyone, but for me, the difference in my mood is so worth it.
  • I've been off birth control for a couple of years.  It's fantastic.

Condoms aren't a problem for us.  You just do what you have to do.

I tried to get the depo shot once and my dr. wouldn't let me.  Well, ok, she strongly advised against it.  I figured she knew what she was talking about.

  • Oh my god Moosey, your doctor is wise!  The depo shot is the devil, for me anyway.  I gained 30 pounds, broke out all over my face, and became extremely depressed.  Oh, and I also spotted for the whole year I was on it.
  • I tried the pill, depo and nuva.  I went off nuva about 4 years ago when I lost health insurance as a result of graduating from college.  I will never go back on BC. I didn't think it was a problem until I went off. I used to get really depressed or just be a crazy wacko who never wanted to have sex anyway.  Yes, DH and I don't particularly like condoms but it beats the alternative.  I feel like a sane, rational human being again.  I am back to my pre BC weight and I want sex all the time.  It tooks us a while to find condoms that we liked, but now it's no big deal.

I was supposed to get my period on our wedding day and for our honeymoon and when I mentioned to DH that maybe I would try BC again to try to avoid those dates he strongly objected.  We both feel that it just can't be good to be pumping your body full of hormones.  Luckily mother nature stepped in and somehow I was period free on all important occasions.
