Reception Venue HELP!

I have been looking for the past few weeks for a place to hold our ceremony and reception. At first we wanted it at the same spot but since I'm having a difficult time find a place I like for both I am open. I haven't been able to find something I REALLY like. Does anyone have any ideas? And the ceremony is not going to be held at a church.

Our guest list is max 175, our ideal month is August, something outdoors is preferrable, but not a deal breaker. But we need something that has a nice rain spot just in case - Cleveland weather you never know! Our budget we would like to keep it under $130 a plate w/tax. We live in the Mentor area but I don't want it at La Malfa or Cappellis because that is where all my friends and family were married this summer. I want to do something different!

Any sugguestions or ideas?!?!
Thank you!!!!!!!!

I don't know what your total budget is, but you could try:

    - Club Hillbrook
    - Manakiki Golf Course
    - Cleveland Botanical Gardens

These are a little pricey. But beautiful wedding spots!

Cleveland Metroparks zoo!  My friend went to a wedding there - it was in the aquatics and primate building and he said it was so cool - you eat dinner while animals are walking around in their cages.

It is catered and the room looks really pretty once it is all done up with the decor and linens and everything.

another suggestion would be Mooreland Mansion in Kirtland or Holden Arboretum.  Sammy's at Legacy, Pine Ridge Country Club are some others that come to mind.  Or Quail Hollow

We had our wedding at Manakiki in September and it was wonderful. Beautiful outdoor ceremony location with rain back-up and a great indoor reception space. Sammys is the caterer and they did a fantastic job!

We used Thunderhill Golf Course in Madison...gazebo in the middle of a pond and rustic indoor reception site.  Cheaper then you want....but I thought it was wonderful!  Check it out!

Look into The Club at Key Center. That is where our reception was held just a few weeks ago. Everything turned out great and the event coordinator, Maureen, is wonderful. The room has great views of downtown Cleveland, not your normal ballroom look. Prices are very good for downtown Cleveland and it is a great location if you have out of town guests because they can just stay downtown which offers many things for them to do without the need to rent a car. Hope this helps!

Have you looked into the Lodge at Geneva on the Lake? It is beautiful there! They have a nice gazebo outside by the lake to get married at and if it rains you can move inside. I have also heard their reception hall is nice!

Check out Walden Inn as well. They have many indoor/outdoor options for you!

Hillbrook is absolutely beautiful but very pricey, $120-140 a person.. Definitely look into The Cleveland Rainforest!
