Wedding ring to fit around engagement ring?

So FI and I are going to look at wedding bands this week. I am concerned there will not be a band that fits around my engagement ring. The band of my engagement ring is curved (I'm not sure that is the proper term) and it was not a part of a set so I am worried that there won't be anything to fit around it. Has anyone else with non-perfect circle engagment rings had issues finding a wedding ring that works? Below is a picture of my ring.

Re: Wedding ring to fit around engagement ring?

  • I think your only option would be to have one custom made to fit snuggly around your ring.

Another option that I have seen though is to wear the engagement ring on your right hand and the wedding band on your left...this way you won't run into any issues.

Finally, I have a friend who has a "swirly" (only word I could think of) type band for her engagement ring but then just has a regular band (half eternity) for her wedding ring and she wears them on the same finger...she loves it and doesn't mind that they don't link together.

  • You actually can find curved bands out there that should fit around the ring, or you could opt for custom-made.  I personally went with a custom band, since my ring (like yours) has a really unique shape.  It cost a little more than a standard band (a few hundred dollars), but we just cut back in other areas to afford it.

  • My ring is the same rough shape and I've found a ton of curved bands that will work.  Most do have a slight gap as the curve isn't exactly the same, but my jeweler assures me that when I get them soldered together (I want to anyway) they can close the gap easily/cheaply.
  • My ring has a similar shape, and we tried on some wedding bands this weekend. The only one that looked good was a very, very thin "stackable" type diamond band.Tried some curved bands, no dice for me. I'm thinking of just looking for a band I like and wearing in on my right hand (since the e-ring is already sized to my left hand and my R&L ring fingers aren't the same size, and I would rather have the less-fancy ring on my dominant right hand to avoid getting too banged up). Opens up more possibilities, I feel!

  • my ring < which i have described as curvy and swirly... confusing anyone who hasnt seen my ring i can only imagine how they picture my ring> i had to send my ring back to tacorri to have my band made to fit my ring because even if the store ordered the band in the same exact size they said there was no guarantee the band and ering would fit together unless they used my ering while making the band! thankfully i got them back now and they fit perfectly

  • I also had a hard to fit ring, and anything I found that I liked didn't fit, and anything that fit I didn't like.  I'm opting to not do a separate band, and my engagement ring will just become THE ring. Besides, I think it's plenty gorgeous by itself.  Putting something else with it just felt like it was taking away from it's look.
  • I got a beautiful band made of my great grandmother's ring,  It'll go on my left hand and my engagement ring will be moved to my right, mainly because I couldn't find anything that wouldn't look ridiculous with my e-ring.
  • Have you tried jamesallen.com? They have great prices and a huge selection of wedding rings. Maybe this one would fit?
