Daily Topic Thread: Martha Who Monday (Favours)

Good Morning Ladies! I hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

There has been a lot of talk about wedding favours; what to give? is worth the money? what can you DIY? I've assembled a little list of "fall" themed wedding favours that you can make yourself along with some links and tutorials.

Before you decide on a favour, consider what it is that you'd like your wedding favours to say about you or how you'd like them to reflect your wedding style.
Here are some questions to contemplate:

What is a quality or characteristic that defines you as a couple?

What is your favourite hobby or past time?

How did you meet?

What is the mood/style/theme of your wedding?

Do you want a favour reflective of the season?

I believe that giving the guests some personal is always a nice touch (and yummy helps!). Here are a few "fall" themed ideas for wedding favours:

Apple Cider Donuts RECIPE
These favours can be personalized and delicious! By using a heart shaped cutter to poke the hole, you can add a little love too :)
If you want to go all out, add a mini bottles of cider to go along with it, or make an apple cider martini your signature drink.

Rock Candy - TUTORIAL
I don't care how old you are, candy rocks! This is a cute, easy and yummy treat for your guests. The colours can easily be coordinated to suit your wedding colours and your label can be designed to suit your theme.

Baked Apple Spice Favour - TUTORIAL
Layered dessert recipes aren't just a Christmas thing! Here's a cute fall-themed wedding favour idea that is easy to throw together.

Spread the love - TUTORIAL
Homemade jams, jellies, or any kind of spreads are delicious and there are so many ways to personalize these favours. Pick a spread that reflects your colours, your theme, your favourite flavour - and then customize your labels to follow suit.
It's fall - we need to fill the pantry!

Cheese & Crackers
This favour may not be entirely "fall" themed but it's a great idea for those who are not offering a late night snack - it's a 2-in-1 sorta deal! It's practical, yummy and can be personalized. Mission accomplished.

Anyone hungry? I hope you ladies found this useful.
If you'd like to share your wedding favour ideas, please do so!

  • We're doing chocolate bars by Chocolove for our favor/escort card. The escort card will be tied to the bar with ribbon in our colors.

We're going to Belgium for part of our honeymoon so Belgian chocolate seemed like a good idea. The bars all have a love poem inside and they're reasonably priced so it was an easy decision to go with that company.

I haven't decided if I will leave the bar wrapper as is or if I want to put something over it.

I love these ideas!  Currently we aren't doing favors, but I've been considering doing homemade chocolate dipped pretzel sticks :)

  • We're tossing around ideas while we decide if we're keeping the photobooth or not (current decision FI and I are making).
  • I actually really love the cheese and cracker idea - add apples and it's totally "fall" ;)

Britt - why the change of heart about the photobooth?

  • We weren't going to do favors...just seemed like not a high priority on our tight budget.  My mom has been really insistent on them but when I explained she asked if she could do them (out of her own pocket) as a way to add a nice touch.  For our wine themed wedding she wanted to alternate wine stoppers and bottle openers (so couples wouldn't have 2 of them same thing) but it was kinda pricey and I told her not necessary.  She's now on the hunt for wine-themed charms so that she can make wine glass charms to attach to a little thank you note.  That'll be a DIY project for her and her girlfriends and I'll of course help if I'm around.  The cheese and crackers would fit our theme though too if she can't find the charms for reasonable hmmmm....
  • FI and I figure we can put that money towards something more important as its one of those things that made the 'nice to have' but not the 'must have' list
  • We're also skipping favors.  Altough if they were in the budget I would do something edible like the jam or apple butter.

  • FMIL wanted a part in the favours so she has been knitting scarf's for each guest. They are really beautiful actually and super soft and cozy! She's doing a wide assortment of colours as well to allow them to be man friendly as well :)

We are also doing a candy buffet with hand stamped chinese take out boxes for the guests to fill up on.

FI really wanted these mini gumball machines that he saw so we orderred one for each table and will be putting a sticker under a chair at each table to determine who gets to take the gumball machine home. We are also doing this same thing with cd's we are making of some of the wedding music.

  • We are having a photbooth as our favors along with a carmel apple bar. So I guess we have two favors.
