How to use e-vites for save the date/wedding invitations

If you're wavering about whether or not to use e-vites for the "connected" people on your list, here is a post for you!

I successfully sent out my save the dates this way - my fiance and I designed a beautiful personalized invite and used it as a PDF attached to the email. I was impressed by how many people responded and complimented me on the look of the invite. I'm definitely going to go this way with my formal invitations! Not only is this environmentally friendly, it also allows us to spend money on things that guests will get more benefit from - namely food and drinks!  We are planning to send out paper invites to the three people on our list who don't use email, but we're happy that our plan worked.

Oh - btw, don't let the postage-lovers scare you either!  It's easy to confirm emails with by first sending out an evite save-the-date. Simply ask your recipients to confirm they received the email and you can follow-up with stragglers by phone. And of course you can still send out the paper invites to whoever you feel would appreciate that.

Unfortunately there are not many resources out there for people who want to send e-vites out; in fact, I'm amazed at the stigma attached to those who dare to use technology for invitations, but I suspect some of this is due to the massive pressure put upon us by the wedding invite industryFrown

If you're wondering about whether or not to use e-vites, I say go for it. It's a great way to show your personal style, values, and respect for the environment. Don't let other people dictate your traditions Cool

Re: How to use e-vites for save the date/wedding invitations

  • We did electronic STDs for most and paper for a few. We actually put the image file into the email, instead of sending as an attachment, so when people opened the email it was there.  People loved it. It came witha  link to our wedsite (and the password) and people have enjoyed all that is there as well. This means that our invites will be one sheet in an envelope as all the extra info is on the web. RSVP will be via web or email or phone.

    Saves the environement and money!!
  • Email STDs and email wedding invitations are two completely different animals.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
