Pat O'Briens Reception?

Hi Ladies - this is my first post on here. Just got engaged and we are planning our destination wedding in NOLA for March 3, 2012. My question is - Has anyone had their ceremony or reception in Pat O'Briens? More specifically in the Briar's Suite? I'm interested in hearing thoughts from others since I'm in Dallas and won't be able to look at it until September. I've also been in touch with the sales manager and he's told me some things aren't included that are listed on the site as being part of the wedding packages (coordinator, flowers, centerpieces, white linens), but I'm trying to get a more clear answer on that.

Thank you in advance!

How big is your guest list? The Briar's Suite is not all that big. We've seen it last year when we were looking for our reception place last year. I didn't think the place was big enough for 60 guests. Although the balcony overseeing Bourbon street was very tempting. The suit is very charming though

I have about 50, but they informed me they only have 20 chairs...and no more to put in there.  I can't make more than half my guests stand at tall table (That I have to pay $25 a piece for) for a three hour reception. Also, the info they have on the website for wedding does not apply to that room. We are still on the hunt for a venue... Undecided

You should check out Muriel's. It's a top restaurant renowned restaurant and would be perfect for your number of people. It's right next to the St. Louis Cathedral right across the street from Pat O's.

Check out the Chicory.  Very New Orleans and Michele is great to work with.  I'm having 60 people and the Lafayette Room with balcony works great for us.

You can rent extra chairs for the reception

    Or find a different place.
We decided on House of Blues!

Yeah, I got the impression that they didn't have any more room for more chairs..or normal tables. It's ok though because we are going with the Basin St. Station. They have an awesome 4th floor for the venue and it includes the balcony. Very pretty!

the basin street station looks like a beautiful venue.. only thing i would be concerned about is the location... it is right on the edge of a housing project.. not an area id want my guests to be at late at night.. but as long as you have extra security im sure it will be fine..

what kinds of packages / rental fees does this venue require? just curious because it looks remodeled and ive never heard of anyone using it,.. good luck!

My Fiance is a Police Detective here in Texas, and so are several guests (officers and detectives), so we are not really worried about security. Smile

As for packages, You can have the whole 4th floor for 3 hours and the venue is $1800. You can add extra hours for $500 an hour. They provide open bar at $20 per person, and they have 2 caterers to choose from - Pigeon Caterers and Elizabeth Anderson (We are going with Pigeon). You can also use your own caterer, but you will have to pay extra. It only holds up to 100 guests though.

Here is a slideshow from a wedding they had last week if you'd like to see how they set it up - just the venue - http://gallery.me.com/mpphoto/105889
