Wedding Woes

Another argument settling post

Last night, when I was coming home from yoga, I had picked up Chipotle. I also had a large box, housing mom's mother's day gift, a small box holding a shirt I had ordered, my large purse, containing my work clothes and 2 water bottles, plus a plastic Target bag.

I had brought my ceramic coffee mug with me yesterday to drink on the way to work, and I wanted to bring that in as well. I threw it into the Chipotle paper bag, stacked everything together and proceeded to walk up to the house with everything in my arms.

As I'm struggling to get my key into the door, the coffee mug rolls out of the Chipotle back and onto the door frame/porch, smashing into many peices. I yelled "GOD DAMN IT!".

DH was feeding Baby A in the living room at the time, and heard the crash. He ran up to the door as I managed to get my key in the door. He saw what had happened, and after making sure I was ok, he said, "Two trips, honey. Two trips!!".

I can't be the only person who insists on one trip from the car, no matter what. What says you?

  • We're on the top floor of our condo unit.  I do one trip whenever possible.

Dude, when I come home from workand I pick up Buffy at my parents this is what I haul in for 1 trip:

    -tote bag of Buffy Suff
    -"wetbag' of diapers (it's large)
    -Pump
-Duffel bag containing my purse, my lunchbox, all the pumped milk from the day, etc
    -Buffy in carrier
-A 'grocery' bag of food that my parents sent for dinner.

It's only been the past week that I've decided that Buffy is officially to heavy and I'll always have to make 2 trips.
And Damnit, it cheeses me off.

It would be worth the risk to the mug.

ONE TRIPZ 4 LYFE.  we do leave things in the car if we must, but it's only things that won't spoil or explode, like tp.

One trip as much as possible.  This is the reason that many items (large bags of dog food, cat litter, etc) ride around in my car for a while until they are absolutely needed.

DH is the "one trip" guy in our house.   It causes big arguments.
He will cause bodily harm to himself and others, and property damage, to make it in one trip.
It is SO much more efficient to just go ahead and make 2 (or 3) when you factor in the time to load yourself up, the time it takes to move so slowly so you don't drop anything, and the time you get yelled at by your spouse...

It's 4 steps from my car to the door.  I'm a multiple tripper.

It's not really about distance...I walk across the width of a car, in a door, up 3 steps and dump stuff, then go for trip 2.  and I HATE trip 2.  irks me.

And it IS unresaonable--it'd be faster NOT to do ita ll at once.  But I insist anyhow.
  • You know what's totally awesome?  Not having to debate any of this nonsense with anyone ever.

I do try to make it in one trip though.  I normally have DD in tow, so I can't just keep schlepping her in and out of the condo.  She has her own will now and often refuses to go back out.  I also can't just leave her alone in the condo to haul in groceries.  I have been known to open the stroller, load it down with groceries and walk DD inside.
