How to word thank you notes for monetary gifts or gift cards?

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to word thank you's for gifts of cash and gift cards?  At our wedding shower we received several envelopes containig gift cards or other monetary gifts.   Do we mention how it will be used or do we just thank them for their generous gift?

    Thanks so much for the gift of money/gift card. We'll enjoy using it to get some items for our new home/save for a home/etc. I was so happy you could come to the shower and I'm looking forward to celebrating with you and Johnny at the wedding!

    Don't mention the amount they gave you.
