I dunno. Just like...do you really want to be with someone who doesn't want to be with you? Maybe he's going through something (like work or school stressing him) and he just needs to do something mindless for awhile. I know this won't last forever so I guess I just need to give him his space. He'll come back to me eventually.

And it's not like I'm helpless on my own or anythign, I have plenty I can do. It's just been abrupt and I need to change my habits for a couple days.

Fair enough, I was thinking more of it never changing and you just accepting it and that wouldn't be cool.  But I remember now you saying he's done this before and it gets better so that's good :)  Maybe start a new craft project or new book series?

[QUOTE]LVB, what are you doing while he's playing video games?  My H plays his playstation a lot too, but come a certain time, or if I'm getting bored, I just say "hey alright, quit playing now and let's watch a movie" or "I'm bored, stop playing that".  Then he'll finish his game if he's in the middle of one, and we do something else.  If you just mess around on the Knot or something and don't say anything, he'll think you're fine and won't quit.  You have to tell him "okay it's time to stop, I'm bored".  At least I do anyway.

I mean, it's only been 2 days. It's not so much that he was playing when I'm home or anything (because I usually read for an hour when I get home). It was that he had to grab the controller when I was trying to show him something. And then stayed up too late playing after I went to bed.

[QUOTE]Allen goes through this same thing with the games.  It drives me nuts and even when I say, "It's just a game" he gets offended.  Boys.  I think when we took away their ability to hunt and shoot and do "manly" things all the time, they channel that into games.

I think you're totally right. I came home yesterday and his eyes were just so bright and he's all, I WON THE HEISMAN!!! I just stared at him like he was stupid.

  • Morning from super chilly Iowa. J's headed out this weekend for a 4 day boy's dirt biking trip (Wisconsin, I believe). I get my hairs done on Sunday; at least cut. Color may wait until next month. Today, it's just prepping a test for tomorrow.

  • I've learned 2 things while reading through the rest of this thread.... 1) There's definitely a reason why I stopped taking math classes at 103 in college. And 2) I'm glad my H would prefer to take 2 weeks in November to go actually hunt stuff than play video games. Now that we live on a lake, his ice fishing gets a little old during the winter... but at least I know when it gets too dark to see anything he'll find his way inside eventually.

LVB I have no suggestions for you. :( But I do have HUGS!!
  • I gots the food posioning yesterday. I feel like absolute crap today. I still have the shakes and I had to close the door to my office because I started crying today. I would very very much like to go home but that ain't going to happen.

  • Well, ya see. When Super Mario Bros came out? I may or may not have spent too much time playing that game, BUT THERE WAS AN END TO IT. And I haven't played since, really, other than my Wii Fit.

He needs to walk away from Madden. It'd be different, I think, if you were playing WITH him, but if you aren't into it, then he should either A) Reserve the game for times when you are busy doing something else or B) Limit his time when you are home, especially if he knows it bugs ya.

  • And here I thought my H was bad during college football.

LVB, I would seriously just tell him tonight that you feel like he's been playing too much Madden and would he please just play from 7-9 (or whatever) for the rest of the week, and see if that works. If not, then I'd definitely do the wallet thing.

I want to make an apple crisp. :whine: Does anyone have a "healthy" version that uses sugar substitutes or just less sugar?

  • I'm getting Mario for Christmas, and I'll be obsessed with it for a week. I'm also *hoping* to get Lego Harry Potter. But my H will be just as obsessed with both because he likes to win, and he'll want to play to beat me. However, from what people said yesterday, I'll school him at HP.

I took off yesterday and I am debating taking off soon. I also am debating just flat out quitting.

    georgia, this recipe is good:

you're supposed to use cranberries in it, but you can also leave them out and throw in an extra apple. Or you can use raspberries, which is really yummy.

  • Thanks, LTB! I might just incorporate Splenda brown sugar into the Cookaholic Wife recipe (or whole wheat flour into the Splenda recipe). We'll see how it goes.

Opal, there's goodies?! That makes me want it even more.
  • Thanks, clams! I'm trying to get my H to eat more fruit, so the cranberries are actually a good thing.

There are tons of characters to unlock, and little items you can only get with certain characters or powers. So you have to play through the whole thing, and then duck back into the levels with different characters to get that stuff.

It's so awesome. I love the sense of humor that the Lego games have too.

I read an article on Yahoo that you can add mushed up bluberries into your hamburger meat for extra antioxidants.  I haven't done it yet, but it sounds interesting.

  • [QUOTE]Good morning everyone!  This is a long GM thread, and I'm just waking up. A friend of mine is getting test results back today to find out if she has ovarian cancer :( :(  I can't believe it takes a week to get the results!  I'm so nervous for her- they said they're 90% sure it is.  I don't know what to say to her.

OMG, that's horrible. And they made her wait a week?!! That's just not right. Have they caught it early? I can't imagine what she must be going through. Hugs to you both!
  • Oh, kiki. I wouldn't know what to say either. I hope it's good news, and if not, I hope they caught it early. T&P to you both today.
  • Morning everyone. Just jumping in to say that Opal is pretty freaking cool. That is all.

[QUOTE]TR, that sounds weird. Oh, I got Dexter 1&2 yesterday. Your Netflix office is just being stupid. I've already been putting zucchini in stuff; tonight I'm gonna try to chop it really tiny. I can't wait until I have a food processor.

Stupid Netflix.  Disc 2 says available now so I don't know why they didn't send ANYTHING yesterday...makes no sense.  :::grumble:::  We did watch all three episodes of Disc 1 last night though, haha.

  • Yeah, they're pretty addictive. We usually have to finish a disc before we go to bed. We didn't watch any last night, but I'm hoping we will tonight. I don't know what we'll do when we're caught up with Netflix, but still behind in real time.

  • I just checked my queue and those Netflix motherfuckers are sending a movie instead of Disc 2 even though Disc 2 says "available now".  Not cool, Netflix, NOT COOL.

And where's my damn pro-pics CD!?!?

Sorry, I'm having a bad mail week apparently, haha.
