Waxing (anywhere, lol)

I have only ever had my eyebrows waxed and to me that's painful! I also have super sensitive skin though, and am red, puffy with bumps after for hours. I've tried everything to calm it down, everything, but nothing works. I was told that I should try threading but I'm such a baby and am afraid to try it. For my wedding I really want to go to try waxing again (obviously a couple days before!) for my eyebrows, underarms, vajzzle, lol, etc..but I'm afraid that I won't be able to handle it. Is it very painful? any good recommendations for the union county area?

I can't help with any places in union county, but as for your eyebrows have you tried putting cold milk on it after? It's suppose to help soothe the skin. Also popping 2 ibuprofen 30 mins before the appointment help as well. Good luck!

well... for me, when i first had my vajayjay waxed it was a bit painful but as you keep going its not so so bad. But again every time i had an appt i would get nervous and amp up the pain in my head and when i got it done afterwards i would say it wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be. haha. As for eye brow waxing it makes me teary but im sensitive by my eye area... i hate when they pluck it makes me anxious
I dont have an recs though. I go to one place on Staten Island.

Yep, tried milk and it didn't help at all :( I'll definitely have to load up on the pain killers though, lol!

I had my eyebrows waxed at On the Side a few years ago... and it was very nice... but that was right before I transitioned into threading them so I'll never go back.

Threading hurts but I think it looks so much nicer than waxing (on me, at least).

Reilly saw you posted about on the side on the spray tanning post as well- that's only 5 minutes from me so I'll have to check it out!!

I will check out on the side too. I live in Cranford, so I'm right by there! I can't picture the place! where do you go for threading? Is it expensive?  I know that's what I should be doing. Waxing pulls off a layer of skin and that's why my eyebrows get irritated  and I've been told countless times that threading is better but I'm just such a baby! I think the rest of me would be okay if I can handle it because my face it is the most sensitive.

It isn't Union County- but Lori at Valentiono's in New Brunswick is really great for eyebrows. She really takes her time and is very thorough.

I know there is a threading kiosk at the Bridgewater mall... not sure where else though. I have it done in the city.

threading hurts really badly, and takes a lot longer than waxing. i still havent gotten used to it, but it looks much better than waxing.

I'm also scared of this "Threading" looks too much like getitng stitches. I'll stick with the eyebrow waxing. I've also waxed my upper lip, it isn't enjoyable but its not involving needles in my face.

The skin under my eyebrow has a huge burn mark from waxing. Never again. I love threading- hurts a ton but looks amazing!

I had my upper lip threaded a few weeks ago to prep myself for having it done right before the wedding. Honestly, it is excruciating, but it goes REALLY fast. She knew I was terrified so she did the whole lip in less than a minute.

I saw the threading at Menlo Park Mall also upstairs.

On the Side is nice.  I love their "spa pedicures." So relaxing. If you are coming from Cranford its on South Ave past the train station, and circle.  It is in a huge re-done house on the right.  The place is clean and the people are nice.  Its a nice treat.  Im going there to try the St. Tropez tan, I was just there for the pedicure and saw it on their brochure.  I think a new waxing place opened in Garwood across from the Shop-Rite also, but I've never been.  Post how the results of the tan are if you go..

For a Brazilian Wax - Just Salon in Millburn.

They have two types of waxes that I like down there.  They have a green wax and a chocolate wax.  They both work really well and are for sensitive skin.

I also pop two tylenol before a brazilian.  It helps A LOT!

    Good luck!

Oh right, the European waxing place? I forget the exact name. I can kind of picture OTS now. I still am tempted to try threading for eyebrows but maybe I'll go there for waxing the rest. Must get drugs first though!

For waxing I go into the city (crazy i know) but there is this salon called Completely Bare which is absolutely awesome. It barely hurts at all. I have heard they put something in the wax to lessen the pain.

for brazilian i have been going to Bliss in the city - i believe they have a location in Hoboken as well.  they use a special type of wax and while it still hurts a little bit (esp the first time i havent gone in a while) it is much less painful than regular wax.  also, they are super clean and don't "double dip" the sticks.  it's a little pricier but worth it!

MandW - I do not have any rec's as I am in SI but I wanted to tell you, if you plan to get waxed places that you haven't before, I would start now so your skin gets used to it.

The last thing you want is redness a few days before your wedding & stressing that it won't go away.  Definitely go atleast a month / 2 months before your wedding to get used to it because god forbid the wax reacts with you or a burn etc.

I get about everything waxed, eyebrows, underarms, brazilian, and half arms during summer.  That's what I get for being 100% italian :)

Lola -thanks for the advice. I will start soon, just as soon and I work up the courage!
