Hotel from hell update!

You may remember that I posted last Thurs that the hotel with our bridal suite, parents' rooms, and some guest rooms called last week to say that our reservations had been canceled because they overbooked the hotel.  We had paid in full for all of the rooms 6 months ago and I was beyond pissed!

Well...the good news is that we got our rooms back.  The bad news is, my mom has been calling to speak to the general manager (to basically tell him that his hotel sucks and to have him 110% guarentee that we will have the rooms that we booked) since Friday and no one is returning her calls.  I had planned to stop there when I was home this weekend, but honestly there was just too much going on and we didn't have time to stop.  I swear if this manager doesn't call her back today I'm going to be even more pissed than I already am!

I told my DOC about what's going on and she thinks it's ridiculous and said that she would step in if they keep giving us a hard time.  Then, I talked to my venue on Fri because I had a few questions for them and the banquet manager said "I hear your having hotel problems".  I said yes, but how did you know?  He said that the DOC coordinator told him.  I laughed and said that you guys must talk about all of us brides too much LOL!  He also said that this hotel is nuts and to let him know if we have any further problems and that he would try to help us out too.  I'm glad everyone else realizes how ridiculous this hotel has been and I hope that they warn any future brides not to use them!

  • Wow!!  I am glad to hear that you got the rooms back.  How did you end up going it?  If I had the time I would sit in the hotel until the GM came in.  Anytime a guest came in I would go to the front desk and ask for him because they tried to cancel the prepaid rooms.  I would NOT be quiet about it.

  • Oh, I plan on blasting them on every social media outlet available!  If I had the time (and didn't live 3 hours away) I'd be doing exactly what you said!

  • Is this a chain hotel or is it privately owned?  If it is a chain, you call the corporate number and complain.  You would not believe how quickly you get a response from the property directly.  i.e, if its a Sheraton you call Sheraton WorldWide / Starwood.  If its privately owned, keep hounding them.  Make it known that you will not leave them alone!!

  • Each time I see your collage, I have the urge to write JERKS! over your venue pic.  Perhaps I'm just a bit testy today.  I'm glad to hear that you got your rooms back - that must be such a relief!

  • I'm really surprised that the Gideon has been that unprofessional.  That sucks!  We thought about booking there and now I'm glad we didn't!

    @ Jenna:  Did you have a problem at a wedding at the Hall of Springs?

    @mbuckley: Be happy that you didn't book rooms at the Gideon...they've been nothing but difficult to work with.  Their customer service is terrible and the staff is very snooty!

  • General manager finally called my mom back.  All of the events that I mentioned above NEVER should have happened, the shuttle service to the venue will be FREE, and the manager will be checking in with us throughout our stay to make sure everything is acceptible.  All is now right with my world LOL!

    @Nic, I believe Jenna was referring to your hotel as being jerks.  I read her post as being supportive of your predicament.  

    I am glad that everything worked out for you and that you got your shuttle for free!  That is a big relief that you don't have to worry about the rooms anymore.

  • I realize that may have been her point too.  I was generally confused by per post.

    Hotel does NOT equal venue.  They are next door to each other but not related in any way.
