chocolate brown...

I kind of had my heart set on chocolate brown tuxedos for our fall wedding, which would look really beautiful with our sage green BM dresses, the mother's eggplant dresses, and my ivory dress. Mom and FI think brown is too informal. What do you ladies think, is brown just as formal as black? I always thought it was a neutral.. our event is not a black tie event by any means, but the venue is nice. I also really love the latte..

    I dont think a brown tux would be any less formal since it is a tux afterall. Black is a neutral so it would work as well

    I don't know about the formality of brown, but I just don't like the look. Black looks so much more classic and neutral.

    Ditto katieanne ... if your FI doesn't like brown tuxes, then the guys shouldn't wear them. Let him make the call. If he vetos brown tuxes, then that option is out.

    I think it is FI's decision to make.  I don't think brown is less formal necessarily, I just don't like colored tuxes.

    Brown is just as formal as black, but I have to agree that seeing it in person.. it's just not that great.  FI was in a wedding several years ago that he had to wear a brown tux for.  They look nice in the pics I have from the wedding, but I wasn't that impressed in person.  Like PPs said, if FI isn't crazy about brown, I would skip it.

    I had originally wanted brown tuxes too- but my FI totally vetoed. :)  He also vetoed suits.  Darnit.  I dunno, but the more I thought about it, the more the brown tux thing made me think of my parent's wedding back in the 70's.....  and I def do NOT want that to be how ppl remember my wedding. lol
