December wedding venues

I just got engaged this winter so the planning is still in the early stages. We're maybe thinking of doing a December '10 wedding, if you had a winter wedding where did you have your reception?
Our budget for the reception is med to high, if we are going to do a winter wedding I'd love for it to have a grand, cozy feel. So I would consider spending a little more.

Congrats and welcome! I know that there are several knotties who have had/will be having fabulous winter weddings so I'm sure they'll be able to give you great ideas!

Congratulations on your engagement!  Winter weddings are amazing and I've had a soft spot in my heart for them ever since ours last year.  DH and I were married last January at the Mermaid Event Center in Mounds View.  We had our ceremony in one ballroom and our reception in another.
We loved the experience we had there and I wouldn't have done it any other way.
You can click on my married bio (in my signature) to see pictures from our day at the venue as well as my full vendor review on the place.

    Good luck with your search!

Check out the Carlson Towers Rotunda.  I'm getting married there in the summer but I've seen pictures of winter weddings there and its gorgeous! It is floor to ceiling windows and outside all the trees are lit up in white lights, its very pretty! Good luck!

I agree with Qston. We are having a 12/31/10 wedding at the Depot. We are soooo excited. I know you will love it as much as I do. Sounds like just what you are looking for. Dont worry, it is never too early to start your planning :)

Something near Rice Park in the winter would definitely be amazing.

If you want something more in the category of "rustic elegance", check out the Village Hall at the Little Log House in Hastings. It's out in the country, and the hall is huge and beautiful.

The guy who owns/runs the place can also organize sleigh rides around the property for you and your hubby, or guests, or whatever. There's also a rebuilt historical church onsite for ceremonies if you're into that.

I didn't have a winter wedding but I had my reception at the St. Paul Hotel (across from Rice Park) this Fall and it was lovely.  The staff there are so helpful and I was totally confident that everything was getting taken care of behind the scenes so I could enjoy the party.

First off congrats on your engagement! A couple people beat me to it :) (I don't come on here as oftern) but we got married at the Landmark Center. It is an amazing venue and the price is not bad at all. The alcohol gets a bit expensive but you can counter act that with choosing your own licensed caterer. I have links to my bios below with vendor reviews. shoot me an email if you have any questions chap0188@yahoo.com

Check out the University Club downtown St. Paul.  I was married there December 2008 and absolutely loved the venue.  It's gorgeous and the food was amazing.
