I just booked our company xmas party. The restaurant let me know that there was another party already booked on the other side of us, sort of an FYI type of thing. NBD, but what are the odds that another party is going on from 2-5 on a Thursday?
Anyway, I reported back to my manager that the party was booked and let her know of the other party going on and that we would be divided by a curtain.
She responds to my email with this:
Thanks, (taw). Did he happen to say who the other party was on the other side of the room? If it’s someone we like, maybe we’ll merge, but if it’s (competitor firm)….. ; )
Seriously, if you can casually find out, that might be good.
I let her know I'd see what I could find out, but I'm dying at the "seriously" part.
