I'm newly engaged, and have no definite plans for anything for my wedding yet but am trying to be married in Fall of 2011!! I have fallen in love with a Castle wedding, and there are some beautiful castles in Central and Upstate NY. However, I'm not really sure what my exact budget is yet. Any suggestions for locations I may not know about, or similar to a castle wedding?? And ways to make them more budget friendly?? I know it's pretty vague but I'm hoping to get some ideas I haven't thought of yet. Thanks!

    The only castle I know is Belhurst Castle in Geneva. It can be on the expensive side though to do a large Saturday night wedding there.... I mean its not uber insane, but its not cheap by any means. If you are open to a Friday night wedding or a Sunday wedding I think they do still have a few dates available this Fall. I checked the website - Fri minimum is 5k, and Sun, is 3k. you'd have to have a small wedding with a creative menu to keep it that low, but I'd say that's pretty good!

    I agree with Emie. 
    Belhurst is definitely on the expensive side, but if you are dead set on the location, but willing to compromise on other aspects- look into a Friday night or Sunday afternoon (brunch-ish)... this would save you a ton!!  Not only on the location, but photographer, limo, caterer... pretty much every type of vendor offers a lower price for anything outside of Saturday evening.
    Also, if you consider spring or winter- you would save money there also.  To be honest, I think the castles are prettier in the winter (thinking Beauty and the Beast-ish... so pretty all covered in white and icicles) whereas somewhere like a winery or outdoor venue would be worth the peak season prices.

    Check out Greystone Castle in Utica.  I know it's not over the top pricey
