Ideas for how to let guests know my save the date is magnetic

I made my own save the dates and they are exactly what I wanted, but it is not obvious that they are magnetic and I'm afraid guests will not realize they're meant to go on their fridge.  I was thinking of printing something on the back of the envelope, but I wanted to use that for our web address only. It's a small envelope and I feel like anything more will be too much. Thanks for your help!

[QUOTE]I made my own save the dates and they are exactly what I wanted, but it is not obvious that they are magnetic and I'm afraid guests will not realize they're meant to go on their fridge. I used cardstock and put a magnet in between two pieces that are stuck together, so the magnet is not visible. Any suggestions for how I can let guests know that the save the date is a magnet? <div>I'm confused. So it's a magnet sandwiched between two pieces of paper that both have writing on it? If so, then won't one side be obscured since it's stuck on the fridge? If it's so complicated that you have to explain it to your guests, it may not be worth it.</div><div>
</div><div>My STDs were magnetic. The info was printed on the one face of the magnet. People got the idea on their own. I've been to several friends and family homes & seen it on their fridge. I always squeal when I see it. Cheesy, I know. </div>
  • I don't think you need to explain this to people. The point of a STD is so people know the date of your wedding, they will write it down or hang it up if they want to keep it, so they have served their purpose. Plus I would really think people will have figured this out if they are magnets, they should be heavier and IMO from their description would look ackward and off, so they will look like they are a magnet or something.

I'm sure they'll get it if they want it hung on their fridge. Don't stress over this.

  • Thanks!  I will just not worry about it and send them out.  There is writing on one side only.
  • Ya...I wouldn't worry about it.  If they don't realize that its a magnet I say its your fault for putting the paper on the back side (and I don't mean that offensively, I'm just being honest).

Funny story (not really).  For our invitations I "added" stuff to it and put some twine on it to kind of make it look like a package.  Before I did this I came on here and asked ladies if they thought guests would get the hint to "unwrap" it and they all said yes.  Come to find out almost nobody untied it and left it the way it came, lol.  But I was told they kept it that way because they thought it was cute.

  • I personally don't like STD magnets - our fridge is stainless steel, so you can't stick anything to the front of it anyway. The sides are magnetic, but our pantry is on one side and covers up that whole side of the fridge, and the other side is only visible for a tiny bit because it's covered by the cabinets.

So magnets are useless in our house.
