Outfit for Engagement Shoot

Hey ladies

I need some help...

So we've tentatively planned our engagement shoot for next week (weather permitting).

We are going to be going down town, hopefully get some urban city shots.

Question: What should I wear?!??!

I wanted to wear two western outfits (do a change in outfits).  One would be more dressy and the other would be more casual. 

I read online that you shouldn't wear black and you shouldn't wear prints.  For the dressy outfit, I wanted to wear a cocktail dress that has a large black and white floral print :$ 

And for the casual I wanted to go with jeans, not sure if I should go super casual with a pair of white tennis shoes or a pair of low low heeled pointy toe shoes. Maybe with a white tank and black cardigan.....

Also did you ladies get your hair and make up done?

Please share your thoughts ....!!

    Engagement shoot is fun, so too much black doesnt sound right to be honest. I would say you dont have to go with prints (as you said is recommended) you can do darker solids, like green, blue or red :). I think in my opinion colors are the way to go. We had one shoot already, I had that in indian outfit, the second one I am going with a blue dress. Colors really pop in pictures and give more for the eye to look at :)..you can do some pics in black and white after editing..if you prefer, just a thought!
    For makeup- I did my own makeup and hair, I think engagement shoots should have a light and fun feeling so I just did some eyeliner and blush with subtle lipstick..no crazy eyeshadow, its not the wedding. For hair I curled my hair a bit and was done! :) G'luck do tell us how it went, want to see pics!!

    I agree with Nicky, I would personally love to see more color in E-pics.  I think for Casual, you can do it any way you feel comfortable with.

    I agree with the other girls. The Engagement pics I've seen are really up beat and bright. The girls wear bright colors and are normally not to dressed up.
    I plan on doing the same combos you are and hair and makeup will be just a little more then I normally wear but nothing over the top. Sorry if this doesn't make to much sense or anything. I have a headache and just trying to get through the day.

    I guess I'm gonna have to go dress shopping lol!

    Should my FI wear a tie colour to match my dress?

    It depends on if you want matchy kind of picks. Some people don't like that, but I love it!!!
