Very early morning thread

Anyone awake yet? I was up at 3am because I went to reach for FI and he had already left for work so I got up to see what time it was and I've been up ever since. I have a feeling I'm going to be very tired by 6pm.

We've been in a little funk lately. I'm hoping it'll go away when this semester ends, we both have been very stressed with school.

I'm up but it's already 10am here... Sat in the hairdressers waiting to get my hair done :]
So, maybe things don't always go as planned... Maybe that's okay. I may be alone for now, but my baby boy is on his way, and I wouldn't change a thing.

  • Just a ton of work going down. Oh and they are making me operations manager which moves me right under the COO in terms of responsibilities, so I am sure that will make this busy season even more busy.

But hey its casual Friday, nothing can go wrong on casual Friday!

  • Rosie I'm so happy for you about your promotion. We're in the midst of our busy season too. That will carry us right through the Fourth of July.

Aleigh sorry you guys are in a funk. I hope once school's done it'll get better. Try and take some time just the two of you to do something that has nothing to do with anything.

  • Oh aleigh funks are to be expected if your are juggling so much at once. :)

MK, how is your new job going? Have you guys felt any ramifications of this GSA shiitstorm?

  • The job is great. We haven't, but my Director of Sales was at a Government Meeting Planners event Wednesday night, and they're all feeling it. Our hardest challenge is going to be the fact that when planning events, government groups can no longer provide any food & beverage. They used to just hide it in room rental, but when someone slipped and an even order came out showing one muffin for $2600.00 they put the kibosh on that.

Luckily, because our brand offers a full complimentary breakfast and evening manager's reception included in everyone's room rate, we should actually see an increase in our government business, because there's food & beverage already built in to their per diem rate.

  • Good morning!
I feel like ish because I got only 5 hours of sleep last night.  Sigh.  I'm crossing my fingers that I finsh work on time and can take a quick nap before my mother's friend shows up at my house.  :/

  • Morning.  Just woke up.  Have a bachelorette party alllllll weekend.  Should probably start packing for that before I get to work.  I have no energy for today.  At least it's Friday.  I am excited about no work for two days.

  • Good morning. I would just like to share that as of 6:30 am this morning I officially finished editing a 255-page (Word doc) book in 6 days. My eyes are bleeding. Now I can send it off for the professional edit and publishing. This is going to be a re-release of my first book, which is out of print. Tonight I have to look through all my old floppy disks to see if I have the original cover photo, but if not then I'll just have them do a new one.

I should be excited, but now I have to start editing the sequel for it's re-release. It's also about 255 pages. AND work on Book 3 of my current series. Having a full-time job sucks. All I wanna do is write.
  • The government is always messing up event planning!  It's so freaking annoying.  I wanted so badly to get another venue for our big conference but the vendors have to be in a separate room.  I found the perfect place but it doesn't have an elevator for handicap accesibility.  So I'm stuck at the place we've had it at for years now.  It's so boring.  And vendors (Pharmaceutical companies) aren't that interested in paying display fees b/c now they're not allowed to give out all the cool crap people come to conferences for in the first place.  It's like if you go to the tables it's just to talk to them, nobody wants to talk to pharm reps on purpose.  They're pushy and annoying.

STAY OUT OF EVENT PLANNING GOVT.  Free food and gifts are why people attend stuff!

    Oh, good morning.
  • Morning, all. Happy Friday! I'm on day 2 of a headache, so blech. But H is making crabcakes for dinner, I'm giving tests in 3 of my 5 classes today, and we are planning on going to the Ren Fair tomorrow. Weeeee!
  • Morning! Congratulations on your promotion Rosie!  The only government stuff I hear about at work is the head of the company bitching about the healthcare bill.

H said this morning that we can buy me a new bike, after I asked about fixing my super old one.  Woo!  Now I just need to figure out what I want.

  • Adamar, I wish we lived closer to school so I could bike to school. Not that I have a bike now but I would get one if we lived in biking distance.

  • I could technically bike to the CC I'm going to now, but I would have to cross some busier roads.

I talked to my micro professor last night, and she said the job market is pretty good around here.  I might be switching majors.  Eek.

  • Good Morning!

I am so freakin' happy - Friday (the Friday of tax week, nonetheless), is finally here!  Tax week is generally terrible, and I'm so glad it's over.

Congratulations on getting your book edited, Sesh!

We were invited over to a friend's house for a bonfire tonight, but I don't think we'll go.  It's really kind of cold here today.  We are going to a baseball game Saturday night, and I really don't want to be outside in the cold for two days in a row.  I really can't afford to get sick.

  • Crap.  I JUST realized that my registration is up tomorrow on my car.  And that H didn't pay the taxes on his old car after it died and he didn't turn the plates in.  *sigh*  Guess I'm going to be driving all over creation today.  Hate.

  • That sucks, Bay.  I ALWAYS forget about my registration.  We really need to get one of the cars switched to H's name, so we're not paying two registrations due right before Christmas.

  • Morning!  I'm excited for the weekend, it's been such a busy week.

Congratulations on the promotion Rosie, that's awesome!
  • Morning. I just did 3 things on my list of things to do so I feel really productive.  I'm getting a trim maybe and some hairapy so I'm excited for that. Especially since it will be $20 off because FI went and I got the referral.

  • Sorry Bay. At least yours won't be late now. :)

Onlove, I'm sure you'll get out of your funk with FI. Balancing school, wedding planning and everything else does that. Just take some "us" time soon.

I'm working on a special project and it's disturbing how little people in my company know about their own clients. I'm also hungry and it's only 8:30!

  • Morning all, Friday, finally freakin' Friday.

Rosie, so cool on your promotion.  Big stuff!

3.5 more hours and I am off to OHIO to see my mom, sisters, daughter, and nieces.  My car is packed with food, games, and booze.  Woot Woot!
  • Midge, it still will be, because our cars were both registered in my name.  I can get the stamp on the registration form, but it still has to be mailed in, and that won't clear until at least Monday.  I'm going to be at a bachelorette all weekend (and we're taking a limo), so I won't be driving after today until Sunday...my fingers will be crossed that I don't get pulled over.  I had my registration expire a few years ago and got away with it for a month before I got caught.  I don't know if I'll be that lucky this time.

Ha, there are 6 in that particular series (4 in the current one). The second and third are done, just need to be edited, and I started the fourth years ago and got maybe 50 pages in before focusing on something else.

And my mom says I'm lazy.
