Bridal Shops

Hi ladies! I am an Iowa bride, but planning on coming up to the St. Paul area to shop for wedding dresses, which is where you all come into play.... where have you had good experiences shopping for your dress? Where would you recommend that I go?

Thanks for the help!!

Swing by Mestad's in Rochester on your way up! It's right off of Hwy 52 if you're coming that way. I know I had a great experience there as have other girls here. Highly recommended! Lots of dresses in a wide price range, and friendly, knowledgable staff.

I second Mestad's! They are AMAZING, have a wonderful selection, and I got my dress there :-)

Mestad's for sure - we all drive OUT of the city to go there!  I went to the one in St. Cloud and had the best experience, and the ladies who go down to Rochester rave about their experiences there too.

If you're coming to St. Paul, the Wedding Shoppe has a great selection, but in my experience, the service wasn't great... But it might be worth it to try on the expansive variety of dresses there.  Then again, you might see the same designers at Mestad's - go there to get the selection + the service!

As much as I hate to say it, David's Bridal has a pretty wide variety of dresses if want to try on a lot of styles in exactly average sizes.  I didn't find the dresses to be the best quality, but there are some good deals to be had there.  Try to go on a weekday if possible and make an appointment.  They seem to be a teensy bit nicer if you have an appointment.  Weekends are shear madness.

I bought my dress at the Wedding Shoppe, and both times I was there to try on dresses I had a great experience.  I've found that if you're able to go on a weekday it's much more relaxed than the weekends.  Also, my consultant Carolyn F. was fabulous, so you could ask for her.

I went to the Wedding Shoppe and had good service, but it was my consultant who made it that way - her name was Katy. If I had it to do over again, I would have also gone to Priscilla of Boston and Posh Bridal Couture!

After having an amazing experience with their customer service this week, I must recommend Dena Marie Bridal in Roseville.  They have a smaller selection than the Wedding Shoppe, but the customer service is impeccable. (The saleswoman remembered me when I stopped in on a whim...8 months after my first visit).

I also enjoyed Heartstrings Bridal in Hopkins.

Both (and the Wedding Shoppe) recommend appointments, so be sure to reserve ahead.

    Good luck and have fun!

I second the Dena's Bridal recommendation.  They were wonderful to work with when I was there.  Very friendly and very helpful.

I found my dress at the Wedding Shoppe and also was assisted by Katy.  She was wonderful!!  I got lucky and went there on a weekday night and it was not too busy like I hear it is on weekends.

I also went (first) to Heartstrings Bridal in Hopkins which had a decent selection and a nice set-up.  They only allow 2 brides there at a time so make sure to make an appointment!  One of my friends got her dress at Napier Bridal in West St. Paul and really liked that as well which only allows one bride in there at a time by appointment so they could focus all their time on you.

I made the mistake of going to David's Bridal on a Saturday and it was all chaos and sales pressure.  I may get bridesmaid dresses there, though, since they have a decent selection, good colors and relatively reasonable prices...
